Strange that Trump will be in Davos during his impeachment trial?
. . .
At least he can use the opportunity to stock up with some of that carrot colored cosmetic he is alleged to use:

Meanwhile, Parnas, the associate to the president’s personal attorney, has alleged the U.S. threatened to cut off all aid to Ukraine if it did not announce an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden.
DOJ response to Parnas's accusations is to label them "100% False". Isn't it amazing how many people come forward to lie about Spanky and his crew?, he must be the most lied about person ever, and it's not just bad actors like Parnas. Witnesses with unblemished records of integrity and public service have all coincidentally chosen this administration to become liars. What inducements did Clinton & Soros offer them eh?

Unless... <gasp> what if they are not all lying?? OMG! that would mean the US president is a man completely lacking in character and has managed to fool significant numbers of the US electorate <shudder>.

DOJ long ago gave up their traditional stance of neutrality in favour of Trump defence.

Strange lack of witnesses supporting Trump.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Trump's own administration says the law was broken!
Quote:
The Trump administration violated the law by withholding appropriated security assistance to Ukraine, the Government Accountability Office said Thursday in a report.

The independent watchdog said the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) withheld the appropriated funds last summer.

The report said U.S. law “does not permit the president to substitute his own policy priorities for those that Congress has enacted into law.”

Ooohhh! Interesting times!

In the "you could not make this stuff up" category!
Quote:
US intelligence officials have quietly asked the Senate and House Intelligence Committees not to hold public hearings on this year's World Wide Threats Assessment after testimony from agency chiefs last year prompted an angry response from President Donald Trump, according to a source familiar with the talks.

You may remember last year Trump said about his own intelligence agencies "Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school!"

Interesting to learn that the Senators have taken a special oath for the occasion
Quote:
“Do you solemnly swear that in all things appertaining to the trial of the impeachment of Donald John Trump, now pending, you will do impartial justice according to the constitution and laws: so help you God?”
I wonder if they can be sued when the obviously fail to do so.

Senators on both sides have clearly stated they will not be impartial; allowing them to swear an oath they already promised to ignore is at best a bad joke.

Evermore Parnas accusations, if he can prove even a fraction then it is stunning.
In response to Trump's claims he does not know Parnas he released this video, Parnas is the guy stroking Trump

The Mafia chief in action
Quote:
Larry Kudlow, the White House’s top economic adviser, said Friday the administration is exploring making changes to global anti-bribery law.

“We are looking at it and we have heard some complaints from our companies,” Kudlow told reporters regarding the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), which bars American companies from paying bribes to secure contracts abroad.
The FCPA was enacted by the 95th United States Congress so it is unlikely Trump could change it without a vote in Congress.

Trump adds Ken Starr and Alan Dershowitz to impeachment defense team
and now
Quote:
The Harvard legal scholar Alan Dershowitz, a member of Donald Trump’s team for his impeachment trial, has said he will not vote for the president in November and that Trump’s acquittal by the Senate “would produce results that make me unhappy as an individual”.

Typical Trump chaos, so will he now fire Dershowitz?

Trump signed Phase One of the new US/China trade agreement today. .........................

Seems China has committed to buying an extra $32 billion of agricultural products over two years which is a lot less than the $50 billion per year promised by Trump; as part of the extra $200 billion in products over the next two years.

Nobody knows how this will work in practice!
Chinese traders buy the ag. products, not the Govt., how the Govt. will force these traders to buy is not defined. The traders got burnt last year by the retaliatory tariffs and had to find new non-US suppliers. They are likely to resist switching back to the US especially as unpredictable Trump could start up the whole mess again.
Not exactly encouraging news from China about how they will actually implement purchasing the promised $200 Billion extra products from the US.

Quote:
China will increase U.S. imports on the basis of “market principles,” a Beijing official said Sunday, according to Reuters.
Chinese Vice Premier Liu told reporters Chinese firms will import U.S. agricultural products on the basis of consumer needs and market forces.
Source

I have the impression China is playing Trump?
Probably China is relying on Trump telling the world in the future that China is buying lots of extra products even if they are not; Trump will never admit his deal was less than "bigly"!

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

The US now admits 11 troops attacked by Iran’s missiles in Iraq bases after the Soleimani were treated for concussions, a fact that everyone is now quietly ignoring and not "revenging".

Meanwhile
Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker, Pulitzer-winning Washington Post reporters, have produced a new book; "a very stable genius".

One quote!
For the record, as a federal prosecutor, Chris Christie sent Charlie Kushner, Jared Kushner ’s father, to prison for “one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes” on Christie’s watch.
Told by Rudy Giuliani that Trump wants him as his chief of staff after Kelly leaving, Christie asks why he would want the job if Jared Kushner isn’t leaving.
Quote:
“Why the am I going to take this job?” the former New Jersey governor exclaims. “You guys are nuts. I’m not going in there.”
&

Quote:
Trump’s West Wing is tantamount to a family business and everything is personal. Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump obtain security clearances because they are kin.

After publicly punting the issue to Kelly that security clearances were not given to them, Trump is described as applying pressure privately. “I wish we could make this go away,” he reportedly told Kelly. “This is a problem.” Said differently, protocols and national security were treated as impediments, not safeguards, when Javanka got involved.
