In December 2017, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas cut ties with the Trump administration after United States recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Palestinian leaders boycotted and condemned the Bahrain conference in late June 2019 at which the economic part of Trump's peace plan was to be unveiled.
Exactly.

It's a bit difficult to broker a deal if one side refuses to come to the table.

This is a bit like blaming a kid getting bullied for punching himself in the face.

Seems Pompeo is as childish as Spanky
Quote:
The State Department has removed an NPR reporter from a group of journalists traveling this week to Europe and Central Asia with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, days after Pompeo publicly feuded with the news outlet following a tense interview.

An organization representing correspondents covering the State Department made the announcement in a statement on Monday. The group says it believes the removal of Michele Kelemen from the press pool was a response to the recent flare-up between Pompeo and her NPR colleague Mary Louise Kelly.
The joke is that NPR is partly public-funded so it seems a strange target; not like it is some extreme radical fringe group.

What do you expect? The Pals have no real say in this matter, Israel and the USA are basically just dictating what is going to happen to their already ravaged country.

Quote:
"Trump predicted that “we will ultimately have the support of the Palestinians” but also appeared to confirm expectations that the White House proposals are generous to close ally Israel."

"It is expected to offer limited autonomy to Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem that would increase over about a three-year timeline if Palestinian leadership undertook new political measures, renounced violence and took other steps in negotiation with Israel, the people familiar with the plan said."
The Pals are basically being held over a barrel with conditions that solidify and vindicate everything that Israel has done to them so far and they know it.

...................Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his chief political opponent Benny Gantz are expected to arrive in Washington this week to preview details of the Trump administration’s long-awaited Israeli-Palestinian peace plan.

Quite how they will achieve this without involving the Palestinians is a good question!
Benyamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, has been formally charged in his criminal corruption case just hours before Donald Trump is due to unveil his Israeli-Palestinian peace plan at the White House. Consequently, he will likely fit in well in the White House, maybe he will apply for asylum and Trump can send him to Mexico to wait for the case to be heard.

Benny dropped his request that Israel’s parliament grants him immunity on charges of fraud, bribery, and breach of trust in a long-running corruption scandal likely because he recognised he does not have enough votes.

Ooohhh!
Quote:
At an event in Sarasota, Florida, on Monday, Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly said he believes the accounts detailed in Former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s memoir.

“If John Bolton says that in the book I believe John Bolton,” Kelley said at the event, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. “Every single time I was with him ... he always gave the president the unvarnished truth.”

Another slap for Spanky......

Meanwhile, Iowa GOP Sen. Joni Ernst on Monday night told reporters this:
"Iowa caucuses are this next Monday evening.
And I'm really interested to see how this discussion today informs and influences the Iowa caucus voters, those Democratic caucus-goers.
Will they be supporting VP Biden at this point?"

Remember that Republicans -- including Ernst -- have been arguing for months and months that Trump's effort to get Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to look into the activities of Biden and his son, Hunter, in Ukraine had nothing to do with the fact that the former vice president was running for the 2020 Democratic nomination.

Ernst's comments on Monday are the most obvious evidence yet that, of course, this isn't just about corruption in Ukraine.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump (#indicted and #impeached) announced their Israel/Palestine peace plan today, Palestine and Jordan and Iran have already publicly rejected it.

Netanyahu's chief political opponent Benny Gantz was reported to be in the WH today but did not appear at the announcement; maybe he was not impressed?

Biden recognised this!
Quote:
Joe Biden on Tuesday called out Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst (R) for suggesting that the former vice president would be hurt politically at next week's caucuses due to President Trump's defense team focusing on him at the Senate impeachment trial.

“She spilled the beans,” Biden said at a campaign event in Muscatine, Iowa, a day after Ernst made her remarks about the Democratic presidential candidate while speaking to reporters at the Capitol.

“She just came out and flat said it. You know, the whole impeachment trial for Trump is just a political hit job to try to smear me, because he is scared to death to run against me, and he has good reason to be concerned," Biden added.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Quote:
A growing number of GOP senators are now acknowledging that President Donald Trump may have leveraged US military aid to Ukraine in exchange for an announcement of investigations that could help him politically -- but they contend that even that conduct does not warrant removal from office or hearing from additional witnesses.

Republicans are arguing that the latest reports -- that former national security adviser John Bolton's book manuscript says that Trump told him in August that he was withholding $391 million in aid until Ukraine announced a probe into the Bidens -- are likely true but simply confirm what is already known.

Your ability to interpret that from what he said impresses me.

I wouldn't play his game, if I were you. He wants people to be glued to his tweets and overinterpret them. And what do people do? Exactly that.

I bet his supporters don't read his Tweet feed. He isn't tweeting for them. But for his loyal opposition.
