…
| | | | | And not by a long way the only insane part of it, the Reps announced pre swearing in that they wouldn't take their trial vows seriously, we know they haven't taken their Senate vows to protect the constitution seriously now they are debating whether there should be witnesses. It's a trial ffs.

Tom | | | | | How about Mike Pence? I agree that the guy is loathsome and a major enabler of Trump's lawlessness, but he would be POTUS if the Senate had a shred of integrity - not Nancy Pelosi, Biden, or Sanders.

The fear of him becoming president is what keeps Trump in office!

But Pence would be able to name his successor with congressional approval (Ford's named VP: Nelson Rockefeller, LBJ's: Hubert Humphrey, etc.).

First US Govt. estimate of Q4 2019 GDP growth came in today at 2.1% so the whole of 2019 came in at 2.3% versus 2.9% in the previous year, most forecasts show 2020 will be even lower.
A far cry from Trump's campaign promises "We're bringing it (the GDP) from 1 percent up to 4 percent. And I actually think we can go higher than 4 percent. I think you can go to 5 percent or 6 percent.”
Trump is also not looking so good versus Obama's GDP record who had three individual quarters over 4% and one over 5%, Trump's best quarter so far is 3.5%.

Almost Friday? (? for 22) | Quote: | | | | A factory based in the hometown of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini is producing Israeli and U.S. flags primarily for the purpose of supplying props for protesters to burn during anti-U.S. rallies.
Reuters reported that the Diba Parcham flag factory in Khomein, Iran, produces about 1.5 million square feet of flags per year | | | | | Just shows that if you are smart enough you can profit from any situation
One benefit of Iran not joining the EU is that they do not have to make their flags from noninflammable materials | This user would like to thank marton for this useful post: | |

It maims congressional oversight and cuts down the most important leg of our checks & balances. Especially given the GOP's embrace of Nixon's infamous legal view, "when the president does it, that means that it is not illegal."

If Trump is deposed by the Senate, the VP is next in line, then the Speaker of the House—isn't it automatic, according to the Constitution?

This needs Congress approval but with a Dem House it might prove difficult.

I think the Dems would make that deal in a heartbeat with the GOP if they agreed to remove Trump. Pence would have the VP of his choice immediately after assuming power (probably someone like Paul Ryan).

An illustration of the fear GOP Senators has of Trump. Marco Rubio's mind-blowing explanation of his impeachment vote
Here are the two key lines from Rubio's statement
"Just because actions meet a standard of impeachment does not mean it is in the best interest of the country to remove a President from office. ...
WTF?
"... I will not vote to remove the President because doing so would inflict extraordinary and potentially irreparable damage to our already divided nation."
He is ignoring the fact that his (Rubio's) vote for impeachment would make it a bipartisan decision.
The US will never be the same.

Now that there is no impeachment, would they focus on what Biden has been doing in Ukraine?

This is what a future State of Palestine can look like, with a capital in parts of East Jerusalem.
7:26 PM · Jan 28, 2020 | | | | | From Trump's speech announcing his peace plan, "we have the support, and it’s very important to say this, of both parties".
In the real world | Quote: | | | | Arab League Rejects Trump Plan. | | | | | Source
Arab league members; Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
Even Saudi against Trump's plan
So much for the great deal maker!
BTW, so far nothing reported about this rejection in the US papers |
