One of my friends noticed that during these pressers, everyone stands close together, and Trump can’t stop touching his face.
I guess everyone wants their spot on the telly?

As for touching the face, easier said than done. On the local news here they have a science expert that comes now and then. He secretly dusted the desks and phones of the anchors with this powder that glows under black light. When he had the studio turn out the lights and put on the black light, the powder was all over the phones, pens, papers, and of course people. Their hands were pretty clean by that time, but the scientist said it's because they first rubbed off a bunch touching things and only later washed hands.

I noticed that too, how close they stood behind him.
I mean I would definitely use the Corona "excuse" to keep away from him.

And their faces? He should have checked them.

It is easier said than done - as I noticed about a week ago, when I got red peppe into my eyes.

I think he didn't want to embarrass them too much so he didn't shine the light directly on their faces. But you could still see the glow around eyes and nose particularly. One had what looked to be a handprint on the cheek, as if resting the head in the hands.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

During the last coronavirus taskforce press briefing, Trump was asked to describe what it is like for him to have the coronavirus test.

He could not describe it, he said it was a medical test and not pleasant!
Usually, the test consists of sticking a cotton bud up your nose or in your mouth for just a couple of seconds. So did Trump really have the test?

It was a great opportunity for him to say it was very quick and totally painless.

Here is Trump saying this on video.

I started laughing as I thought you were gonna say "as if Trump had slapped him when refusing to stand behind him".

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

US presidents actually have very little influence over the stock markets. Consequently, they usually do not claim credit when the markets rise because, when the inevitable fall happens and they are unable to halt the fall they look feeble.

Trump just neatly demonstrated this, the Dow fell 1,300 points today closing under 20,000 and has lost over 9,000 points in the last couple of weeks. The entire Trump stock rally has been erased.

Meanwhile, unofficial reports put US virus cases at over 7,700 with over 110 deaths; this may well be an underestimate due to the slow rate of testing.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

That 20000 point mark is the least of our problems.

If you thought we had problems before with the 2008 bailout and the subsequent QEs, the repo-operations or whatever...

Now, they're firing one bazooka after the other and each on is a dud. And we're only at the beginning of a crisis that could last for months, likely the rest of the year until there's a vaccine at some point.

Sometimes I hope somebody stops the simulation we're living in.
It ain't funny anymore.

You mean like Switzerland? Explain to me, how we went from 842 new infections on March 15th to 136 new infections on March 16th?

Here are some possible answers:
A) The Swiss learned a lot from China's crisis, namely the way to handle the accounting.
B) Ricola
C) Nobody knows what the hell is going on an since Swisscom had several outages and doctors are forced to send a fax in order to confirm new infections, that some or lots of new cases didn't even get accounted for.
D) All of the above

By the way, that Italian doctor working in Switzerland clearly stated, how the numbers will double on a daily basis until we manage to implement a lockdown and flatten the earth curve.

Basically in my view, there are two issues in the US, firstly the Fed has practically no bazookas left and secondly they overloaded the ones they used so the effect was to frighten the markets instead of calming them.

You are absolutely correct "It ain't funny anymore."!

Sadly, like you, I have no confidence in the published Swiss numbers.

I hope it is deceit rather than incompetence because in that case, the truth will emerge; sooner or later.

The Corona virus has removed any possibility that Trump will be re-elected. His mis-management and lies have completely destroyed any credibility that he had. Bye bye Trump!

And then we'll get Biden, who clearly is also over his prime and who can probably only hold it together with various medication against his dementia.

From the very first day, it will be a question when the VP will take over.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

I wonder how many people believed these idiots and will get sick because they failed to take proper precautions.

Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham have changed their coronavirus tune in a big way

Quote:
Polls from both Gallup and Pew Research revealed that Republicans — who are largely distrustful of mainstream news organizations and primarily turn to Fox News and other right-wing sources for information on current events — were much less likely to take the risks of the coronavirus as seriously as their Democratic counterparts.

Right-wing personalities — such as Fox News' Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and talk radio host Rush Limbaugh — told their audiences day after day that news coverage of the virus was hysterical and aimed at hurting Trump politically.

Gallup's poll, conducted between March 3 and 13, found that only 42% of Republicans were "very worried" or "somewhat worried" about the virus. In comparison, 73% of Democrats expressed that level of concern.

That doesn't make sense, imo.

But Trump not being able to campaign the way he's used to, not being able to hold his rallies might do the trick. It's how he gets his voters riled up - tv won't work as well.

Trump's Presidential campaign is based on the fantastically good US economy he has created; due to the virus, the economy has collapsed.
Every time the markets moved up he claimed it as a success so he has to now live with the falls, to below his inauguration time.

He has also boasted about his fantastic unemployment numbers but they now forecast over a million layoffs this month, incidentally made worse by the virus related US census delay meaning the extra half-million census workers also have no jobs.

Don't hold your breath.

I foresee a cancelled Election, with Trump retaining Power due to a National 'Mergency that never quite ends.
