Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

The Dow Jones has crashed another 3.5%, currently languishing around 18,500 points. That puts it at about the level it was at in July 2016. Of course, at that time Obama was driving the index up... now all we have is the illiterate know-it-all orange buffoon.

Must be a Democrat hoax. I can't fathom any other reason for this collapse of the economy.

The clown who says windmills cause cancer now claims to have a solution to the coronavirus pandemic.

Quote:
Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump

HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine.
The FDA has moved mountains - Thank You!
Hopefully they will BOTH (H works better with A, International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents) be put in use IMMEDIATELY.
PEOPLE ARE DYING, MOVE FAST, and GOD BLESS EVERYONE!
@US_FDA, @SteveFDA, @CDCgov, @DHSgov
Promising them as miracle drugs only give false hopes.

Nigeria records chloroquine poisoning after Trump endorses it for coronavirus treatment

Health officials in Nigeria have issued a warning over chloroquine after they said three people in the country overdosed on the drug, in the wake of President Trump's comments about using it to treat coronavirus.

Of course, it was an overdose; nobody knows what is the correct dose because the medicine has not been through the usual testing and evaluation process.

These poor sods are just taking handfuls of the stuff in the vain hope that the Messiah Trump will protect them.

What are your thoughts Marton regarding BJ's press conference? A lockdown worse than what we have here (although that can change...)

Such a lockdown seems to be the only possible solution; better late than never. He said initially for three weeks which is a good start.

Good speech, you can read it here.

It will be difficult to enforce due to the mixed messages from UK politicians since January. There are not enough police to enforce rules that many people simply do not believe in.

He also gave the hard word "many lives will sadly be lost".

He also said "we are strengthening our amazing NHS with 7,500 former clinicians now coming back to the service.", I hope they are not so old they form a new risk group.

Hope that helps

What is sad to me is the partisan politics at play. Let's just put small businesses at risk because we, in Congress/Senate need to WIN. And so forget about the people you are supposed to be representing. Winning is everything; screw the people... What a travesty on all levels! And those small businesses left adrift because of politics! Shame on Dems in my view... They agreed in principle and then reneged. At what cost exactly?

While the Dems claim the Republican proposal does not do enough to prioritize workers over corporations.

Whatever the rights and wrongs, it is indisputable that the GOP wrote the Bill without consulting the Dems and then had the challenge of persuading the Dems to support the very long and complex document. Never a good approach for a Bill that has to have bipartisan support to pass the Senate.

The reality is that mostly the social restrictions were put in place by State Governors and major businesses so Trump will probably have little influence if he tries to roll them back.
Maybe his fan base will run off to work.

Yes, exactly this.

The Bill has to be bipartisan, and it really doesn‘t do enough to support workers. More corporate welfare. So I think the Democrats are being responsible by not rolling over for crap legislation.

Are you aware that this bill was drafted by both Democrats and Republicans in the Senate and everything was moving along smoothly (according to Chuck Schumer on Saturday) until Pelosi returns from her recess and effectively, upends the bill?

And Pelosi's proposed new bill in the House includes voter registration mandates, green gas emissions and a provision that Companies would be required to disclose stats of their Board based on race, gender and ethnicity How do these new inclusions have anything to do with the coronavirus and its effect on small businesses?

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

I‘ve read reports suggesting a slightly different reality. However it seems that there are ongoing negotiations in the senate but yes, the house bill may need some work.

Unfortunately, tha addition of pork is a long standing tradition on both sides of the aisle. They‘re not going to change now.

He really is insane!

President Trump today in a Fox News virtual town hall said he hopes to have the country’s economy back up and running by Easter — Sunday, April 12 — his most concrete goal to date for easing off restrictions meant to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Maybe the comparisons with Hitler were not so wide of the mark; we could be looking at between two and twenty million US virus victims.
Hitler is alleged to have killed six million-plus Jews.

That's the problem with being able to tack anything - relevant or not - on to a bill. How do you think FATCA got through? Part of the HIRE act.
