First time I've ever heard the Radio City Rockettes called Christian fundamentalists.
Anyway, here's a new word for you all to use: Trumputinism, courtesy of this article. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-38639327 | This user would like to thank Medea Fleecestealer for this useful post:

I prefer a pleasant surprise to a bitter disappointment.
The short version: The jury is still out. | | | | | I'm confident of the opportunity here to refute race based politics. With such low expectations, it can only add to the likelihood of it.
In fact, with such low expectations of anything, this guy may very well succeed.

Others listed either at the inauguration itself or at the parties (source: CBS) are: - Toby Keith
- 3 Doors Down
- The Piano Guys
- Lee Greenwood
- DJ RaviDrums
- The Frontmen of Country
- Jackie Evancho (will sing the Star Spangled Banner)
- Missouri State University chorale
- Radio City Rockettes

How many Rockettes will turn up on the day is still open (more details on performers here)
And Three Wishes missed "DC Fire Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums" who will also perform, at least they do not have far to travel.

Toby Keith and Lee Greenwood are older country singers, good for his blue-collar base.
Toby Keith - the song that comes to mind when I think of him performing for Trump: "I wanna talk about me"
Lee Greenwood is famous for "God Bless the USA", a moving patriotic song. I think he's performed it at several inaugurations.
3 Doors Down - Rock group? The only song I can think of at the moment is "Here without you"
The Rockettes are a dancing group, famous for skimpy outfits and high kicks. Hopefully Trump will be far enough away he can't grope them. | The following 3 users would like to thank 3Wishes for this useful post:

Quote from his nomination acceptance speech:
"We will completely rebuild our depleted military, and the countries that we are protecting, at a massive cost to us, will be asked to pay their fair share"
New wave of proxy wars?

Just wondering, why does a presidential inuaguration need to be such a big do?
Music is always hit and miss as tastes differ and you'll never find something that pleases everyone.
I don't recall paying any attebtion to any inauguration right up until the first Obama inauguration, which received a crazy level of coverage. It seems the pressure is on that every inauguartion ahs to be bigger and better than the last. Why?
What is the point. Isn't it about him taking the oath of office. Why engage in activities that are not directly relevant to that? To attract crowds? Speaking for myself I might actually be more likely to sit through it all on Youtube if it was done and over in 15 solemn minutes than if it dragged on for hours and every man and his dog gets to perform something that's totally irrelavant and not even my taste of music.

But you're right, the actual inauguration is secondary to the sweet sweet schadenfreude of him being rejected by everyone but the very bottom of the barrel and the effect this undoubtedly has on his ego.

That same song ("Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue") sparked the big feud with the Dixie Chicks when Natalie said “It's ignorant, and it makes country music sound ignorant”. That, and her comments on GW.
I used to be a big fan of Toby Keith, but stopped listening to him since that feud.
On another note, I remember the inaugural ball 4 years ago: Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, Mana, Brad Paisley among others. Was great.

- "We're number one! USA USA USA!"
And to be honest, most countries have some sort of festivities around inaugurations. I don't know that the USA is that much bigger. They don't roll out literally every tank and aircraft and march the entire army down Pennsylvania Ave. | Quote: | | | | | The one that comes to my mind is the one where he says, "We'll put a boot in your a$$, it's the American way".

I can't think of a single non-totalitarian (or close to it -- yes, Russia, I'm looking at you) country that throws a large "inauguration bash" for its elected head of government.

| | | | | As far the UK goes, at best there is a bit of hand waving at the door of No. 10 by the incoming PM, but lately they seem simply to bundle the next one in through the back door then arrange some bumbling and awkward press conference in the street, then everyone goes back to their pint. | The following 4 users would like to thank for this useful post: | |
