| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | The newly released Republican coronavirus stimulus proposal includes funds for the design and construction of a new FBI headquarters at the request of the Trump administration.
Cancelled plans to relocate the FBI from the aging Hoover building, which had been in the works since at least 2012, could have resulted in the construction of a hotel to compete with Trump's hotel a block away. | | | | | Source
The new proposal includes a cut of $400 to the enhanced unemployment benefit for Americans out of work from the Covid-19 crisis.
It is unlikely to get the bipartisan support needed.

That it's legal doesn't mean they have to do it. Especially once things get chaotic it's often impossible to control the gun in a crows as safe handling requires.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | Donald Trump Jr has been temporarily suspended by Twitter for posting "misleading and potentially harmful information" about coronavirus.
The president also shared the same tweet. On his account, the post no longer appears, and has been replaced with a message indicating that it is "no longer available", but he still appears to be able to tweet. | | | | | Source
I do not know why this happened now, they have both been posting "misleading and potentially harmful information" for years.
The problem is Trump is pushing hydroxychloroquine again as a COVID-19 cure.
One amusing instance;
They seem confused between whether 62 or 65 studies confirm effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine.
If you click on the link there are actually 110 studies; only 65 are positive.
If one takes peer reviewed as the gold standard then only a third of the studies are positive. Of these, many are from China so it is surprising that Trump quotes these plus many involve only small groups of people so not so convincing.

Bad day for Trump! | Quote: | | | | Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says he wants the $1.75 billion in funding for a new FBI headquarters in downtown Washington removed from the GOP's coronavirus relief package.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, McConnell said he hopes that provision and other non-germane items will be removed from the legislation before its sent to President Trumps desk. | | | | | Source
Another Trump U turn | Quote: | | | | President Donald Trump on Monday night said that he will accept the Republican nomination in North Carolina as initially planned, marking a reversal after he attempted to move portions of the party's convention out of the state.
The convention had been moved to Jacksonville, Florida from Charlotte, North Carolina, after Gov. Roy Cooper raised concerns about holding public gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic. | | | | | Source
It is not yet known how Trump plans to address NC Gov. Roy Cooper concerns about holding public gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile I thought the Dems would want a lot of changes in the latest GOP COVID-19 relief proposal but currently it is their own party . | Quote: | | | | Divisions within the Republican conference spilled out once again Tuesday as GOP senators dismissed key pieces of their own leadership's stimulus proposal not even a day after its release. | | | | | Source |

Don't really care about Trump or the UK.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | Well I expected to see something resembling:
"Trump's militia beating up an unarmed woman,, horrible scenes - do not watch if you have a sensitive nature"
Unfortunately it was just a clickbait title. Even with the Twitter editting to remove the run up to the arrest, this was a very lame attempt to provoke.
I think Marton is becoming more and more unhinged as Biden is seen to hardly glow as an alternative to Trump, let alone shine.
Trump's slogan - Make Armerica Great Again
Biden's slogan - Restore The Soul of The Nation
Says it all really. | | | | | Life is full of disappointments aint it?
Trump gave his daily corona briefing yesterday but soon went off the rails. | Quote: | | | | "He's [Dr. Fauci] got this high approval rating. So why don't I have a high approval rating ... with respect to the virus? We should have it very high," the President griped.
"So it sort of is curious," Trump said, "a man works for us, with us, very closely, Dr. Fauci and Dr. (Deborah) Birx also, very highly thought of -- and yet, they're highly thought of, but nobody likes me?"
"It can only be my personality, that's all," he said. | | | | | Source
When Trump heard that Fauci would throw the first pitch of US baseball season he immediately announced he would throw the first pitch at the Yankees game on August 15th. This came as a surprise to the Yankees who had not confirmed a game on that date and had issued no invite.
Trump has now said he is too busy to throw the first pitch.
Some more info on the Trump tweet removed from Twitter. | Quote: | | | | Trump spoke warmly of a doctor featured in a video he retweeted overnight Monday that touted the hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for the coronavirus.
The video, which also claimed people didn't need to wear masks, has since been removed from a number of platforms for violating policies on misinformation. | | | | | Source
According to the article the good doctor has previously claimed on YouTube and in articles on her website that gynecological problems, such as endometriosis, cysts and infertility, are caused by individuals having sex with demons and witches in their dreams.

This whole thread of why Trump is bad. Fair enough.
Where are the 'This is why Biden is better' posts? Where is he ripping through Trump? Do we have to wait for the presidential debates, or whatever they are called?
To me, Biden taking the knee was not the actions of a POTUS in waiting.
I think that Biden is the USA's Jeremy Corbyn.

This is probably why Biden will win, pizzazz or not. | | | | | Currently, Biden is firmly in the lead. Trump is thrashing around trying to find a winning formula but he has a struggle as the virus spreads and so more and more US citizens know people who are seriously sick from COVID-19 or have died.
Trump's law and order theme might give him a lift but deploying Feds to cities with protests has yet to improve the situation and videos of Feds beating defenceless protestors does not help him except with a small group.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | I think that Biden is the USA's Jeremy Corbyn. | | | | | I don't think so.
Corbyn was very polarizing and managed to burn bridges with a lot of people who might otherwise have been his natural allies, or would at least have tolerated him or seen in him the lesser of two evils.
Biden on the other hand is a non-commital blank sheet onto who people project what they want him to be. A doddering slightly decrepit grandfatherly sort of figure who will probably do no evil, even if he does no good either.
