Well written, grammatical, followed logical steps.

Over the next four years we will be able to judge how much progress Trump makes towards achieving these aims!

Well I let CNN into my living room as an exception .....
I was also wondering about all this praying on a political day.
"..... All gifts come from you and the United States of America is your gift". Hmmm .... " .... give him the whisdom of Solomon ...." Now that would be a great surprise which might cause me to rethink my view on God's exsitence. LOL.

Is it only me or was the vice presidents oath much longer/more detailed than Trumps?
Well, he was only asked to swear he'll do the job to the best of his abilities .... guess he's off the hook then.

As a foreigner - yes Phos, I'm not American and express thoughts anyway - I quite liked his repetitive slogan about America first .... does that mean, America is gonna mind it's own business for a change?

Well, the desired change has definitely arrived. Will he do good the next 4 years? As a non-religious person - after all this religion in a political act yet only two religions ( if I observed that correctly) actually presented to the people of such a multifaceted country - let me throw in some conciliation: In sh'Allah.

I'm the last person to try to prevent anyone expressing their thoughts.

The speech was all about America minding its own business. Lets see what he does in real life.

Well, I'm gonna give him the 100 days before I make my next big personal judgement. He's here now, we might as well.

A man of his background/his financial situation/his lifestyle caring so much for the deprived and the poor? "It's gonna end right now", including the crime etc.
So in 100 days America is paradise and we all copy his system and live in heaven. Right?

The religious stuff is as common as apple pie in the U.S (now) and woe be the person who protests it. The words "under God" in the pledge of allegiance were only added in the 1950s but don't even think about changing it now. The "so help me God" in the oath of office isn't in the Constitution, but God help the president that doesn't say those words in his oath.

Technically just two religions were represented during the ceremony, Christianity and Judaism. Naturally as Trump wants to ban Muslims from entering the country he wasn't going to invite one to speak on his big day. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir performed, and some debate whether Momons "count" as Christians. Catholicism and Protestantism were represented.

As for America first, I presume Trump is thinking in his deal-maker mindset. We win, everyone else loses. In terms of foreign policy I think that means the U.S. will mind its own business a little, but if anything does affect American business (oil, for one) then there will be meddling.

I think this will be effective to a degree. Under Obama the rest of the world rolled over with FATCA with nary a whimper. Trump will similarly steamroll whatever plans he has, and as the U.S. is the largest economy it may well work.

I'm not stunned but I am disappointed. The inaugural speech is a moment to bring the country together and inspire folks. I read somewhere that Trump said he drew inspiration from Kennedy's speech when writing his own. So I thought it had potential before he opened his mouth. WTF was that "people of the world" bit thrown in with his thank-you sentence?

I'll give him that the speech sounded 100% Trump-written but it was nowhere near Kennedy-caliber.

The speech did nothing to reassure the rest of the planet, or the part of the population that didn't vote for Trump. All in all, a lost opportunity imo.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

In all this, I couldn't help but think that, in two years time, I'll be hanging my US citizenship certificate signed by Prez Trump right next to my MS degree signed by Arnold Schwarzenegger.*

Twisted humor.

*I went to grad school in the Univ of California system, which is public/state, and I got my degree when Arnie was The Governator, so he signed the paper. Everyone thought it was fake and I got it off the street in Hollywood. I swear it's legit!

The man has a very high success rate. I would think long before I bet against him.

Positionally, he's right. There is a new game. No more freebies from the US.

I'd be more concerned for the likes of Europe, which seems to have a very naive view of the world, tends to rather bury its head in the sand, and is rather defenceless.

You were probably watching CNN, and you bought their crap about unity and reconciliation in Trump's speech. I'm developing an immunity to CNN.

I was expecting a more politically pragmatic speech, but the man went hard. Normally, presidents are moderate during their first term, and then get more radical on their second term.

But this one is not a politician, he's a dealmaker, and his strategy in his book is to go big and outrageous on the opening move.

I don't know if some fail to notice, or are uncomfortable admitting, but he certainly succeeds at what he does.
