| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | You were probably watching CNN, and you bought their crap about unity and reconciliation in Trump's speech. I'm developing an immunity to CNN... | | | | | Can you cut it out with the personal comments, please? Yes I watched on CNN but not because I have any sort of love for them or because I "buy into their crap" about anything. It was that or MSNBC, and MSNBC kept going to split screen and the ticker across the bottom takes up far too much space. So, CNN it was. Thankfully Wolf Blitzer shut up almost the whole time, which may nearly have killed him to do.
As an American (who actually voted in this election, unlike you), I had hoped that this president would make some statements in his inaugural address that tried to bring people together. Why? Because it's the most televised speech he gives early in the presidency and it's an opportunity to set the global stage.
He just spoke a few words at the luncheon with Congress that were very appropriate. He acknowledged the Clintons and asked them to stand up while people applauded. He said he respects them. That's the more presidential behavior I expected to see. But hey, he just took over a few hours ago and he's never held public office. It will take him a while to figure out when to say something and when to hold back.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | Yeah, nice article here too on 5 ways people were protesting. I liked the last one which confirms the aerial shots.
"Many citizens chose to register their protests by sitting out the inauguration. Where crowds packed the parade route and National Mall to watch the swearing in of Barack Obama, there were noticeably empty patches during the Inauguration ceremony. Meanwhile, the DC's transportation authority tweeted out ridership statistics: 193,000 people took the metro today, compared with 513,000 when Obama was inaugurated in 2009 and 317,000 when Obama was inaugurated for his second term in 2013. It was even less than the 197,000 who rode to see George W Bush inaugurated in 2005.
Meanwhile, journalist Brian Stelter asked his Twitter followers to send pictures of how they were watching the inauguration. Several responded with images of turned-off televisions. " http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38696095
We spent our time more profitably by doing our usual weekly shop. Caught a bit of the end where the Obamas were leaving on the helicoptor then turned over to something else.

I'm developing an immunity to CNN. | | | | | Now although CNN is banned from my flat normally, I too watched it today. Why? Because obviously they'd have the best spot to film (as they normally position their cameras before the things happen )
I doubt very much though, that they were able to manipulate Trumps speech live including synchronizing the lip-movement. So patronizing people's understanding of the Trump speech today by accusing them to fall for the CNN progaganda is not really the thing to do, is it. | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | It's visible also for non FB-lers (like me). Seems Trump has already started signing executive orders; mostly to do with his Cabinet picks plus - a proclamation creating the National Day of Patriotism.

The official @POTUS Twitter account was handed over to President Trump's team at the same time as his inauguration.
And the newly owned account is decorated with a huge picture of people celebrating and waving US flags. But the image is of Mr Obama's first election in 2009.
For some reason they have now changed the image
Meanwhile there are claims the National Park service seems to be sending anti-Trump tweets | The following 2 users would like to thank marton for this useful post: | |
