Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Anybody remember the anonymous op-ed in the New York Times that caused Trump to tweet
Quote:
Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump

Does the so-called “Senior Administration Official” really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source?
If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!
1:40 AM · Sep 6, 2018
Well now
Miles Taylor, a former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official, revealed on Wednesday that he was the anonymous author behind a New York Times op-ed and subsequent book criticizing President Trump's character from the perspective of a staffer inside the administration.

"I witnessed Trump’s inability to do his job over the course of two-and-a-half years. Everyone saw it, though most were hesitant to speak up for fear of reprisals," said Taylor, who left the administration last year.

So it was not fake news as Trump claimed.

Trump claims everything that goes against his narrative as fake. I sincerely hope the American electorate get their act together and he is voted out. For the sake of future global stability and environmental security.

Whilst that doesn't sound pleasant is it really FBI territory? Sounds more like a job for the local donut-munchers. Its not exactly Mulder and Scully is it?

Considering that it sounds like a threat to a potential future president, it doesn't surprise me that the FBI are taking it seriously.

Surprise!

Supreme Court rules in favor of Black Lives Matter organizer

The Supreme Court wiped away a lower court opinion related to Black Lives Matter protests that critics argued would chill the speech rights of demonstrators and dismantle civil rights era precedent that safeguards the First Amendments' right to protest.

The lower court allowed a Louisiana police officer to move forward with lawsuit to hold the organizer of a Black Lives Matter protest, DeRay McKesson, accountable for injuries the officer sustained in 2016 when he was hit by a heavy object. McKesson himself did not hurl the object; the person who did is still unidentified

Despite Trump filling the Supreme Court with Conservatives, they are not bending the knee to him. Note the twitter warning labels.

Trump wins world record; seven tweets labelled as "misleading" yesterday.
When he loses the Presidency then I hope they ban him.

Haven't we had enough of cancel culture? Fight ideas with ideas not selective bans! If the (X) president of the USA can be treated like that then what chance does a normal person have?

This is why I can never relate with left wing people, they are for free speech as long as it aligns with their views.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Also, if he goes out in January and nothing else happens (hello, China), he's the only president since a long time that hasn't started a new war and has actively tried to stop the current ones the US is involved with.

There's also the thing with various Arab countries finally recognizing Israel and its right to exist.

While I, too, cannot listen to his speeches for very long, you have to admit that for all his nice speeches, Obama achieved very little.

It's kind of sad that it takes a person like Trump to do this.

Of course, the US is now completely ruined:
Financially, politically, economically, morally.
There's probably not that much military strength left either...

But as I said before: those cracks were there all the time and they are now becoming visible as there's nobody there anymore to put a new layer of paint on top of them every other year.

As such, Trump's legacy will live on for a long time. His presidency marked the end of an era - and the beginning of a new one. There's no turning back the clocks, as much as we want to.

Free speech is not the same as repeatedly spreading misinformation, Presidents are supposed to be better than that.

I'm afraid rainer might be right. Presidents were supposed to be better than that, in the future it's a different story.

No. Biden will get the compassionate smile because everyone thinks he is confused again.

If you are setting such high/low standards, then all MSM outlets should have their Twitter accounts cancelled as they are masters of misinformation.

The solution to misinformation is more information, not less.

Sure, but they are not. For example, they are not supposed to get blow jobs from their intern at the Oval Office while being married and then lying to the nation.

Democrats and Republicans are very selective at how they look at their president

If he makes it to 2022 I will be very surprised.

And then they'll have their female president, who only got single digits in the primaries...

And then people complain about Trump not getting the majority of the votes cast...he got even more votes this time than in 2016.

8 years in government and 4 years in opposition and the Democratic party has still not been able to address (or even grasp) the problems of the people who voted for Trump.

At least, Trump was able to talk to them, communicate with them, without talking down to them and insulting them ("deplorables").

You mean his supporters, no? But then talked down to and insulted everyone else.

It's not difficult to be nice with friends. It's more difficult and requires a degree of education that not everyone is in possession of, true, to be civil with the rest of the world. You know, Mexicans, immigrants, lefties, other people.

Those were not his voters ;-)

Though, as in Switzerland, 2nd generation immigrants are often quite the anti-immigration hardliners - that's maybe the reason he fared quite well with Latinos etc.

Trump had two out of his seven tweets today labelled as misleading, I agree with your proposal that anybody who scores so many such labels should be a candidate for banning same as in this forum.

No doubt you can inform us how the MSM outlets score?
Or are you making fact-free claims "they are masters of misinformation".
