Is that legal?
I wouldn't think so and that it's more of a publicity stunt. Campaigns can use money for a lot of things, particularly if disclosed in advance before donors give money. For example, Trump's latest fine print says that funds can be used to repay campaign debt. The campaign probably conveniently owes money to some Trump properties.

However it seems no major news outlet has dug very far into the legalities. One Houston TV station said it talked to a former state ethics official, who said this could fall under bribes (i.e. encouraging people willing to make false statements just for money) or under campaign contributions to Trump.

Brian Jack, White House political director has tested positive for the coronavirus after attending the election night celebration held at the White House.

Another super spreader event

Edit: Healy Baumgardner, a former Trump campaign aide who was at the election party, tested positive for COVID-19 today.
Others surrounding Trump who have tested positive since the election night gathering, during which many did not wear masks, include Trump's chief of staff Mark Meadows and Housing Secretary Ben Carson.
And now
Corey Lewandowski, a senior adviser to President Trump's reelection campaign, has tested positive for the coronavirus, a source familiar with the matter confirmed on Thursday.

Lewandowski was at a White House party on the night of the election.

Meanwhile, Trump is planning another super spreader event.
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Thursday that she expects the turnout at Saturday's "Million MAGA March" in support of President Trump to be “quite large.” The event is set to take place in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.

Did I ever post "you could not make this stuff up", such an event in the middle of a pandemic with ever-rising cases; over 140,000 yesterday.

New York state’s attorney general is continuing an investigation into the tax records from the family of the Trump Organization’s CFO in their probe of President Trump’s company.

New York Attorney General Letitia James’s (D) probe into the Trump Organization involves the financial records from CFO Allen Weisselberg’s son and ex-daughter-in-law.

Bloomberg News previously reported that Trump Organization manager Barry Weisselberg and his now ex-wife, Jennifer, received benefits including free rent for years in a company-owned building near Central Park. They also reportedly used the business’s accountant for personal tax filings.

Legal experts told the news outlet that the perks could cause tax liabilities for the Weisselbergs and/or the Trump Organization.

A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the Trump administration to stop deporting unaccompanied children entering the U.S., a practice that border officials have escalated amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Judge Emmet Sullivan of the federal district court in D.C. issued a preliminary injunction in a class-action lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The suit was filed by a 16-year-old boy from Guatemala who was designated for summary deportation after entering the country in August.

The Trump administration has admitted in court that it has deported at least 8,800 children since the new system was implemented in March.

Rudy Giuliani and other members of President Trump’s personal legal team will reportedly not be at a meeting Friday with two Michigan lawmakers due to exposure to COVID-19, two sources familiar with the matter told Axios.

According to the sources who spoke to Axios, one participant said that Andrew Giuliani, a White House staffer and son of Rudy, had tested positive for the virus, while another said that the older Giuliani should not attend the meeting later in the day due to likely exposure to his son.

The sources added that Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis said that if Giuliani had been exposed, the entire legal team had likely been, as well.
You really could not make this stuff up.
So Trump's "top" legal team are all in quarantine; probably until it is all over.

I read earlier today that the Republican Governor of Florida was just diagnosed with COVID as well. I wonder if he'll show up at Trump's party tomorrow.

Hell, why not. Who needs a Superspreader Event when you can make it a Super Duper Spreader Event?

That makes a total of seven Republican Senators who tested positive and had to miss Congress sessions, several Senate Dems tested positive for antibodies but never tested positive for the virus.
Would be ironic if Trump failed to meet his lame-duck session goals due to a lack of sick GOP Senators to vote; unlikely as still some 60 days left.

Biden will receive @POTUS Twitter account on Jan. 20 even if Trump doesn't concede, the company says; the account currently has 32M followers.

President Trump was following my condition and cleared me for the monoclonal antibody therapy that he had previously received, which I am convinced saved my life,” he wrote.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Diary from Melania

11/3/2020 - I actually wanted to wear the gold Versace when Donald announced the victory, that would have been awesome, but the tailor made a mistake and it looked like I put on weight at the waist would have. I'm totally angry with him! Then I chose the black pantsuit with a white blouse, if you win that big, a little understatement doesn't hurt. It was very well received. I'll wear the Versace to the official announcement and the party. If the tailor can do it, that idiot.

November 5, 2020 - Donald always said it, this ing postal vote! Why didn't he just forbid them? He's the president! Instead he sat on the toilet today and tweeted like a madman "Stop the count!" and stuff like that. He roars and rages, smashes vases and plates. Nothing has been decided yet. The lawyers will sort it out, Rudy is trying hard.

November 6, 2020 - This morning I knocked on his room door, nothing, then I stepped in and thought for a moment that he was dead. That would of course be the solution for everything. Then he would have died victorious, because you can't lose, that's not part of his character. But he'd only been on strong sleeping pills and then he screamed weird stuff and that he had to play golf, right now, and staggered out and drove away. I looked around the room and was already thinking about packing, which I'll have to guide, how laborious, all those red ties and America First caps. While he clings to the dresser. But maybe we'll still win.

November 8, 2020 - It's over. I advised him to admit it. That was a mistake, he's never hated me so much.

9. 11. 2020 - The vaccination is here! Five days late, he yells, they did it especially! He's mad. I stay cool. Look at him, his red face, how he sweats, how fat he has become and how old. And how he whines like a baby. What have I ever found in him?

November 10, 2020 - One thought drives me crazy: Does he still have money when he has to pay his debts? And how do I get his millions before he is exposed? I'll find a way I always have. And at the divorce date, I'll wear the golden Versace. Because I will celebrate that very big, not to be the wife of this loser anymore.

I am just watching this again, an extremely powerful and thoughtful documentary on the birth of what was to become Trumpism after the 2008 financial crisis and the growing divide in the US. Interviews are great.

"It hardly comes as news to say the US is deeply polarized politically. Yet "America's Great Divide" -- a four-hour, two-night Frontline documentary -- not only traces the roots of that division through the Obama and Trump presidencies, but comes close to concluding that the situation is beyond repair."

Eighth Republican senator Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) is self-isolating after one, out of three, tests showed COVID positive. The risks of working for someone who discourages mask-wearing.

Point is, somehow believe it is Trump who was the main influencer. It was a lot about voting for or against him.

Quite so, and the results seem to suggest that his main motivation point was to inspire people to make sure he didn't serve a second term.

Worked out well enough in the end, although how long it's likely to take to heal the rifts he'd created (or just fueled?) in American society is anyone's guess.

What would it have been like if Obama had been able to stand for a third term, I wonder?
