In the past, the National Guard were forbidden to carry weapons in D.C,

There has been a lot of buzz in the media about whether the Senate can actually convict and block Trump after he's left office. Scholars seem split, but it does seem possible depending on which bits of the constitution you read.
Two articles I found interesting: https://www.businesslive.co.za/bd/wo...eaving-office/ https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/v...d-307bb4cae87c
There's also a question of whether he'd be entitled to all the perks of being a former president, such as salary, paid staff, etc.

You can do a lot of things that would, on the first look (and on the second) look seem unconstitutional and are yet legal.
After all, nobody thought the surveillance-programs, the "enhanced interrogation" of prisoners (or rather: non-military combatants) and a whole lot of other stuff, the 3-letter agencies and their contractors do and did were legal to begin with.
The question is really: do you want to go there?

Bizarre Trump Executive order. | Quote: | | | | President Trump on Monday moved to lift restrictions imposed on travelers to the U.S. from much of Europe and Brazil that were implemented last year to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, though the action is expected to be stopped by the incoming Biden administration. | | | | | Trump's troubles are piling up, probably the first of many. | Quote: | | | | Roberta Kaplan, an attorney representing President Trump's niece Mary Trump and author E. Jean Carroll, is preparing to bring forth three lawsuits against Trump once he leaves office.
Kaplan, 54, told The Washington Post in a story published on Monday that she has prepared three lawsuits alleging defamation and fraud against the president.
Trump is also facing a civil investigation from New York Attorney General Letitia James and a criminal investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.

Is it painful to suffer from verbal diarrhoea?
However what did he mean "I hope it's not a long good-bye" and "we'll be back in some form"? |

My last post on this topic? | Quote: | | | | President Donald Trump granted one additional pardon in the final hours of his presidency.
"Today, President Donald J. Trump granted a full pardon to Albert J. Pirro, Jr.," deputy press secretary Judd Deere said in a statement to pool.
Pirro is the ex-husband of Trump ally and Fox News personality Judge Jeanine Pirro. He was convicted on conspiracy and tax evasion charges after improperly deducting $1.2 million of his personal expenses in business write-offs.
