Spicer's "no-one had the numbers" press conference was a bit toe-curling, wasn't it?
Make a big point that the park's commission doesn't count numbers then reel off a handful of statistics and say all of them were bigger than Obama's inauguration . All that was missing was the "SO THERERERERE!!!"
Why did they feel they had to defend it at all? Whether it's true or not, or the media is just doing it for a Trump reaction, why can't they just let this stuff go, and grow up?

His thin skin (thin orange skin) was there for all to see yesterday when he lost it over the aerial photo of the crowds at his inauguration. The White house press conference too was a sharp slap to the media.. oh dear!
On Friday Theresa May will be the first European leader to visit Trump.

The stats of how many people used DC transport are there for all to see. The live tv coverage was there for all to see. My fb feed was full of friends' photos from the marches they were part of in Auckland, London and L.A. and all of them were accompanied by their husbands (at least) because they felt so strongly about the issues.
I find it astonishing that the Trump felt the burning need to raise the numbers when adressing the CIA. Really?!! That's just sad...

And our Stitch&Bitch group knitted pussyhats. I didn't since I find a hat wearing a tad...inefficient. Pretentious, after decades of womens-lib feeding little girls how wearing pink will send them back to middle ages, deprived of gender equality.
Btw, apparently from the personal news I got from the DC march - just a lot of noise and selfie taking. I wouldn't really get all hung up on how many folks showed up for protests vs support of DT, DC is not exactly a DT's voters hub.
Those who got stuck on the border - how does it help the case to say why they are travelling. Why not put the pussyhat into one's pocket for a few mins when crossing the border, kids.
The pattern for the hat is awesome, even my no knitting friends knitted a few.

We know what we think of other religions and regimes that cannot handle criticism.

Maybe Trump will unite America once again, just not in the way he hoped.

On Friday Theresa May will be the first European leader to visit Trump. | | | | | More sinister from the Press conference was "The new administration has asked the Department of the Interior to stop tweeting after the National Park Service re-tweeted a a posting from a New York Times reporter showing images of the National Mall when both Barack Obama and Donald Trump took the oath of office."
Every dictator is against free speech!
Mr Spicer also disputed figures put out by the Washington DC metro system, he said that 420,000 people used the D.C. metro (full day) on Trump's Inauguration Day (Metro said that 193,000 trips had been taken by 11am).
As an example of spin he compared this full day number with the 11am figure for Obama's 2013 inauguration not the big one in 2009.
It is sadly now clear that any Trump team Press releases and statements will have to be taken with a very large pinch of salt Source
There is also an NBC video of the almost empty parade route, no comparison with other presidents https://twitter.com/KatyTurNBC/statu...18057012756481 | The following 2 users would like to thank marton for this useful post: | |

The pattern for the hat is awesome, even my no knitting friends knitted a few. | | | | | I had a problem with pink - as it is also overused for specious breast cancer awareness. Black would have been better - black cats and all. Nevertheless, it was somewhat unifying.
Whether or not the marches will turn out to inspire change, no one knows. I hope it will encourage people in the US to become more engaged in the political process and unify. Because that's what has to happen for any positive outcome.
Nevertheless, there were a lot of people in DC from many different places. In the end, too many people to actually marchin DC, hence the noise and selfies. I am impressed that the assemblies were largely peaceful.
My favorite sign. (not from DC) - "i've seen smarter cabinets in IKEA" - response to trumps's claims about the cabinet's IQ

Did anyone else see his behaviour at the prayer service yesterday? He was like the petulant, bored 4yr old at a wedding. I was half expecting him to high five people as they walked down the aisle.

He was never going to match Obama for the wave of hope and expectation that swept him into office. A cannier individual would have pointed out what a disappointment Obama must have been to the millions that watched his inauguration.

I thought I read in one of the links that they actually issued tickets for the event so presumably they know how many of those were sold/used. Of course their truth may be a little different from the actual figure. |
