First of all you need to own the land or are permitted to build! Apparently most border land in Texas is privately owned!

Foxnews(!) on the current fence:
"There are miles of gaps between segments and openings in the fence itself. As a result of the Secure Fence Act passed in 2006, the government built some 650 miles of wall along the 1,954-mile U.S.-Mexico boundary. While 1,254 miles of that border is in Texas, the state has only some 100 miles of wall."
Anyway for maintenance you will need doors to access the other side, likely every half mile?
Otherwise the cunning Mexicans will be building mahogany staircases on their side
Probably the doors will have to be big enough to take a pick up truck loaded with building materials?

Not a showstopper. He have a law called Eminent Domain.

They've identified only 300 miles that can be built to effect. A lot of the rest is protected by terrain and will only need fencing for the time being.

The wall will happen. It really isn't all that difficult.

Can't you use the same argument for the people who support him, though?

He could annihilate most of the world, destroy the environment, shag half his female staff, murder his wife and take a baseball bat to a basket of puppies and it wouldn't dent their adulation of him.

So long as he builds a wall, scraps Obamacare and stops Muslims at the border he's on a winner with his supporters, whatever else he does.
....

By all means, it does go both way.

Obama worldwide has some of the greatest respect and admiration for a politician in a long time. But when one gets down to the nitty-gritty of what he actually said and done, he's really no different than many other 'corrupt' politician who have gone under worse public opinion---he just did it very eloquently, with good manners and respect.

Wouldn't it just be easier/cheaper to set up a nice wide minefield instead of a wall?
Them cunning Mexicans would just drive a herd of someone else's cattle across it to remove the mines!

You're over thinking it!!

It is simple:
- lots of lawn chairs
- lots of sunshades
- lots of coolers

Then you sell to Texans/Americans a "sector" - they can drive out there, put up their hired sunshade and lawn chair and then open a cold beer from the cooler.
They then simply sit back and can shoot anyone in front of a marked line.

Combining Gun crime and a hate of foreigners into a money making scheme.

Just to be clear we are discussing the same bill that each time a Republican gets into the White House it gets signed - and each time a Democrat gets in it is repealed? Pretty much always on day 1?

And are we saying that we should get rid of Trump and have Pence instead?

I was thinking: Buy 2 six packs of beer - get 20 free bullets.

What could possible go wrong?

The word you used was "Corrupt". That's quite a strong accusation. In what way do you think he was corrupt?

Why would they go through all that trouble? They basically fill out a form with ID, pay a wall crossing fee, and carry on to their destination.

Entry to the US should be that simple for legitimate purposes.

Directly, no I didn't quite say that.

"he's really no different than many other 'corrupt' politician "

more in the case, that he can flip/flops, makes promises that aren't fulfilled, has passionate inspiring speeches which motivate and inspire the masses, then on non-public facing side made some decisions that most people, who were 'inspired' by his speeches would perhaps feel quite betrayed by.
