I'm sceptical as i'd like to see where 9/11 fits in with that (just noticed - ''Since 9/11''. Seems a bit convenient)

Also, I was baffled when the Southern Poverty Law Centre attributed Omar Mateen to right wing terrorism
Sources are listed in the table. Since 9/11 is convenient, but it's also a time period where Americans have perceived themselves to be of greater risk of terrorism. What would you choose?

I'm just curious as to why would they take a ten year average of Islamic terrorist attacks in the US - beginning straight after the biggest terrorist attack on US soil?

It's almost like they're trying to choose their statistics to achieve the results they want to see.

Would you expect to see more attacks or fewer post 9/11?

If terrorist attacks in the US are rare events, no matter what time period you choose, attacks will be rare. So I don't get your point, sorry. If you were doing the analysis, what time period would you choose?

My point is that it can be very easy to skew data (like Omar Mateen, who pledged allegiance to ISIS, killed 49 people and is then somehow attributed to right wing terrorism)

I'll wait for to see the source of his information.

Trump has signed another executive order, and it's got companies like Google worried.

Snippet:

Article here: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38781420

Google has apparently advised its employees currently in the U.S. that are citizens of the blocked countries not to leave the U.S. until the visa restrictions are lifted.

So bullet point 3 basically is to give preference to Christians from the affected countries while discriminating against Muslims from the same countries. Are visitors to the U.S. now going to have to specify religion on their ESTA or other visa forms?
Trump banned refugees on Holocaust Remembrance Day. That says everything

Nah I think you are a loser.

Also the parallels here are not very different. Populist, Nationalist, falsifying information, restricting news, censorship, flaming hatred, the list goes on and on...

Besides, iirc in this mega thread, the quote's already been quoted. Might have been the other Trump thread though.
That quote, gets quoted a lot, its a powerful quote and its more relevant today then it was yesterday.

Reminds me of what christians have done in the past in the name of religion...

That is a double edged sword you have there, the irony and how sad it is, how easy it is to spit out such deceptive statements. I aknowledge its not originally yours. So OK.

My first thought when I see a fish sticker on a car is, be careful with this one.

Not aggression or objection just care.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

And today's news
Quote:
President Donald Trump granted controversial adviser Steve Bannon a regular seat at meetings of the National Security Council on Saturday, in a presidential memorandum that brought the former Breitbart publisher into some of the most sensitive meetings at the highest levels of government.

Trump also said the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff and the director of national intelligence, two of the most senior defense chiefs, will attend meetings only when discussions are related to their “responsibilities and expertise”.
Barack Obama and George W Bush both gave the men in those roles regular seats on the council.
But surely all the National Security Council discussions are related to their “responsibilities and expertise”?

Terror groups around the world must be high fiving each other admiring the fruits of the shitstorm they've spent years engineering. All it took was one predictable and paranoid reactionary to act as the keystone to complete the stitch up. Job done. Good night, Vienna.

it is not exactly correct. the first one that came into my mind is the battle of Mogadishu. there are probably many more examples.

but I agree: then why not the other 4 countries? perhaps too hard to explain the Americans that it makes oil more expensive

yeah, the source of the data would be a good thing. Killed where and in what circumstance? I suspect it excludes military action, e.g. In Iraq, but still, it is important to include information about data collection, or one is being just as arbitrary and alternative factoid as the Trumpers.

To k and e's point, why were certain countries excluded.
