It's when you look at the people who are still crying about Trump that you realize America made the right decision
You mean scientists, educationists and those seeking to maintain state/church separation, amongst others?

...I'd be looking at tax breaks and development grants for businesses prepared to set up in the rust belt, and adult retraining to get the local workforce ready.
I read an article a few months back that said the problem isn't a lack of retraining offerings. The service sector (particularly healthcare) is booming, but a lot of factory workers (particularly the men) feel they don't have the people skills to switch jobs. They don't mind back-breaking manual labor, but the idea of helping someone who is ill scares them to death.

...Suppose you are unemployed or on minimum wage like all your mates in some half dead industrial town in the Rust belt and voted for Trumps job promises.

Then Trump keeps boasting about all the new factories and offices he is bringing into the US but you and your mates are still in the same mess then you will start to wonder if you should have believed him when it comes to mid term!
Case in point - most of the newer plants for things like cars have been built in the southern states. That's not a coincidence. The rust belt is still pro-union, whereas southern states are arguably anti-union.

I know you're keeping an eye on this marton, but the latest Rogue tweets are disturbing if true...
Best quote from one of the replies: "Trying to nail down who the leakers are is like trying to count the cockroaches under the couch."

Maybe that's cuz all the roaches are in the kitchen with the cook?

@U Muvaru - Feel free to join the debate with your opinions. What I said about Wyoming and Trump are true.

I'm still trying to work out how he reaches that conclusion in the aforementioned tweet.

The EU is in a panic, not knowing how to handle the breach in the echo chamber. It does not know how to handle disruption. Hollande with his 4% approval rating to lead the way.

Isn't that funny?

The chickens come home to roost

Quote:
Hollande was scornful of Trump’s first days in the Oval office, and warned him to stay out of the EU’s internal affairs. “It cannot be accepted that there is, through a certain number of statements by the president of the United States, pressure on what Europe ought to be or what it should not be,” he said.
He's perfectly right. What a pity nobody took notice when he said the same about Obama taking sides on Brexit.

When he says, "It cannot be accepted", does he propose plugging one's ears and saying "La-la-la-la"?

After handcuffing a 5 years old american-iranian boy and considering him as a threat to US security, the farce of Trump's EO continues: Former Norwegian Prime Minister held for questioning at Dulles Airport because of a trip to Iran in 2014!.

What exactly do you mean by that?

Are you suggesting that Weimar was cosy and the politicians there all got on with each other before Hitler came along?

That's not my understanding of history.
They weren't prepared to get their sleeves up and get down into the mud with Hitler and Goebbels.

Also, like Hillary (and Gore before her), the politicians in Germany back then assumed that nobody would be stupid enough to vote for that guy.

And the handcuffed 5-year-old?

I thought this had been debunked, but Spicer actually admitted it.

I've waited longer than that for my luggage at Dulles, but...the idea that you start questioning former PMs of allies is a bit over-the-top, imo. Common sense should prevail in these situations instead of blindly throwing everyone into a room.

Also, while the CBP is busy doing extra questioning based on those seven countries, how many "bad guys" from other countries have entered the U.S. without an extra blink?

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

From the linked article:

Although President Trump's controversial temporary travel ban has led to extra scrutiny of many travelers in the past week, Bondevik says he was told the scrutiny he received had nothing to do with it. Instead, it was related to a 2015 law signed by President Obama.

I guess it's ok now right?

Some people on this forum are saying that we should treat right wing terrrism in the same way we treat islamic terrorism.

Brevik was Norwegian.

I hope those people are happy now.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Since it's Friday and we should be positive ahead of the weekend, you know which one of Trump's decisions this week I thought was actually OK? Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court. He's right-leaning, but with a much more complex record than Scalia, who was just a rubber stamp for neo-con policy. Gorsuch has ruled against government overreach in multiple instances (which will be much needed with Trump's administration) and appears to be a man of principle.
