| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | Go, Milo. He annoys me since there is theatrics that can be avoided - but since he can so well laugh at himself (and others), he is alright. I know why he is on his tour and it makes sense. He is an advocate of diversity. Not the diversity craftily policed by the liberals, but unpretentious diversity.
Benji came home, made me chuckle.
As per Trump wanting people to cut out casual clothes at work, indeed. It is a good tradition. Bowties, please. And beards
I agree that women should not have to power dress as men, in oder to be noticed or respected. A women in a dress should not enjoy less respect just because she is dressed in a feminine way. This idea of looking like a guy, talking like a guy and trying to one up guys, to show power or egality as a human being - is wrong, imho. Simplistic and openly accepting a man's world. It is our world. Nobody could force me wear an uncomfortable guy shtick just because I might be looked down upon in a skirt/dress/heels. And the laundry load going to a washer now is, gasp, pink. It is full of mud, too - but you know, little girls these days. Know how to have fun. | | | | | But not 12 cm heels! That would be just noticed.

House Republicans voted Thursday to gut an Obama administration gun-control regulation that would have helped prevent some mentally ill people from purchasing firearms. The rule, which the NRA opposed and the House struck down 235–180, would have applied to people who receive Social Security disability or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits and are unable to manage their own finances because of a documented mental illness, including schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. It would have covered about 75,000 people, reports USA Today. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer...trol-rule.html |

Before everybody jumps down my throat, please note I am not claiming everybody with a mental illness is dangerous; the vast majority are not! But even if it is less than 1% that is still a lot of people

I don't understand your statement... Is anybody questioning your right to say/not say something about Milo?
WRT the uni, it most certainly does NOT have the right to say he is not welcome to speak on campus (nor have they tried to block him). | Quote: | | | | | I fully support his right to say it. I fully support the right of the uni to say that he's not welcome on their campus, and I have the right to say he's a pretentious little no mark with nothing new to say. So, I won't be saying "Go Milo!" anytime soon, perhaps in this lifetime. | | | | | | This user would like to thank My2pups for this useful post: | |

Cover story in Time of Steve Bannon: http://time.com/4657665/steve-bannon-donald-trump/
And a story about Stephen Miller in the Atlantic: https://www.theatlantic.com/politics...-house/515652/
Neither are quick reads, but very interesting and provide some helpful background on these two individuals who have the president's ear on just about every issue.

The way they kick up absurdly high security fees to the student organisations inviting speakers with differing opinions (on so many of these events) is interesting.
How did they know that there would be professional and militant rioters seriously destroying stuff. Those have nothing to do with debates and aren't interested. Who invited them and what did cops do.
Meh.
At least Milo is not a snwflk. With his shiny sparkly velvet jacket it is a tad impossible to play a proper victim. Diva.
He's got a lot to learn. (Love the bowtie on the pup)

The current Chancellor actually sent a letter of resignation in August of last year, due to pressure he was under for a myriad of things. Not sure how he got the job in the first place, frankly.
It really appears that the police were holding back, as they only made ONE arrest. How can this be, when you have TWO police departments with officers in the area (UC Berkeley has its own police force and the City of Berkeley has its own). Crimes were committed on and off campus. And numerous assaults occurred.
Makes NO sense to me and I hope that something comes out! | Quote: | | | | | I have a feeling it will come down to the pres of the UC resigning.

Looks like Trump has broken his tweeter | Quote: | | | | The editor-in-chief of Der Spiegel said on Sunday a front cover illustration of Donald Trump beheading the Statue of Liberty, which split opinion at home and abroad, was a response by the German magazine to threats against democracy.
“We want to show what this is about, it’s about democracy, it’s about freedom, it’s about freedom of the press, freedom of justice and all that is seriously endangered,” he said. “So we are defending democracy … Are these serious times? Yes they are.” | | | | | Source |

By the same token, a woman in a pantsuit - or a judge's robe, or a policeman uniform, or an ER scrub, or a Marine combat gear,... - should not enjoy less respect for wearing the same, from the President or anyone else.
"My uterus, my choice" replaced by "my closet, my choice"?
Not that there aren't more worrisome things blurted out from the White House on a daily basis as it is, so at the end, the President's unsolicited fashion advice is just that.

From the official Potus account | Quote: | | | | Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens blame him and court system. People pouring in. Bad! | | | | | He seems to have missed the whole appeal court thing
If something happens then we blame the intelligence services and border guards, as usual
People pouring in! Does he know how long it takes people from those countries to get a visa? | Quote: | | | | The Guardian view on Trump v the judges: hastening a collapse of respect

WRT the uni, it most certainly does NOT have the right to say he is not welcome to speak on campus (nor have they tried to block him). | | | | | Why not, surely private institutions are totally within their rights to disallow access for whatever reason.
Free speech doesn't mean you have free reign to have a platform wherever you want to speak. It means you can say what you want, but also that you must accept the consequences of your what you say. If the consequences are certain establishments don't want you speaking there, then so be it.
I'm sure even Milo would agree with me on this.
