Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Sorry MC, but again, you totally fail the point- that choice and disagreement about such, is fine- totally. OPINION- NOT imposition.

No-one mentionned your rôle as moderator, or your own personal circumstances, did they? Autonomous as being versus men? Where? Both Edot and myself happen to share our lives with extremely intelligent men who have always been totally supportive of our needs, and vice versa- and that this as nothing, but nothing, to do with our choice of clothes?! So you are autonomous and free, and so are we- we disagree about what is appropriate or 'best', and looks 'professional', etc. No problem- what I am saying, and I believe Edot too- is that no-one should dictate to us, or impose on us (unless there is a need for safety or hygiene, etc, directly related to the job).

And now today, here we go. So that is what is was all about- surprise:

'In a lawsuit filed today, First Lady Melania Trump revealed her intention to leverage the presidency to ink new “licensing, branding, and endorsement” deals worth many millions of dollars. In the filing, Melania Trump’s lawyer described the position of First Lady as a “once-in-a-lifetime” money making opportunity. She told the court she intended to pursue deals in “apparel, accessories, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, hair care, skin care, and fragrance.”'

And as so often is the case, I mutter "Who exactly is objectifying women here?"

Being male, I have to do this under my breath, since uttering such terrible things tends to annoy damn near any woman who hears me.

Can I wear it with heels?

Saintly is not my priority, nor making anyone feel that they aren't.

Just do not get offended by somebody who is not only on chick's side, not intending to offend, but also does not come from that environment. I can only make personal observations. Which also means, I do not owe anybody gratitude for fighting decades or centuries ago for my autonomy. The people who fought for my autonomy can't post here on Western feminism because as it seems, they would be kicked out Milo's style or pepper sprayed Gavin's style. Big portion of world does not take feminists seriously, and it is not because that portion of world would be scared, lobotomized or macho.

Trump in my opinion is by no means forcing poor Melania into submission. But even if he was, it's none of anyone's business. People have weird fetishes and I think with climate getting recently a bit of fresh air, they might actually want to talk about them. Without being silenced.

So lots of women, you know, the "femlibs" felt a lot of sympathy for Melania. Trapped in a possibly abusive marriage with the humorless Donald inspired a lot of sympathy. But maybe that is a bit too condescending. Maybe she knew exactly what she was getting into, and would get out of marriage/ and FLOTUSness.

Women can be each other's own worst enemy. Indeed.

I was really pissed and mentioned MC;s mod role. Then I deleted it after calming down. My bad. I'm off this now.... more worried about Betsy devos

Nothing, I was trolling a bit. Adele's weight was the subject of a previous heated debate in which you could have been lynched for what you've written. Just checking EF's consistency and standards.

that was so yesterday.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Trump is now subtly pressuring people to have the all-important discussions about issues that are often brushed under the table, such as women's rights and gender equality.

Is he perhaps the most progressive US president the world has ever seen?

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Edot is sweet and her mom and mine would probably throw a wild, great party. Odile's grandma sounds fab, too..(Mom would dress us all in dresses, of course).

The squabbles should not be about them, though. I am all for empowering people to reach their potential (I in fact think women are better in this, more intuitive and less...distracted, lol), and not cave in to two phenomena: entitlement and victimhood.

Sulking, violence and fighting against guys (or thinking pant-suit or hoolahoop is gonna save us) is totally side tracking and discrediting.

Just following the Presidential lead then aren't we.

It'll probably have to be closed at some point. If this keeps up for 4-8 years we'll probably run out of page numbers - 211 and counting.

FFS. I know a few people in the US who'll be seriously unhappy with that.
