Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

The problem the United States has run into is that we saw for 8 years, the Republicans maintain the stance of "I get everything I want, or nobody gets anything", to the point where the government was going to have to shut down due to not having funds. They held steadfast in a belief of "I'll let everything burn down, as long as I can stand on the debris and say I was right." People on both sides of the aisle noticed this, and saw this as a valid method for handling issues, both in public and in government. I mean, they saw it pretty much work exactly as the lawmakers intended, so why wouldn't it work elsewhere? This issue has led to a strong belief on both sides that in order to get what you want, you can't budge. If you budge, you end up losing most of what you were trying to fight for (Obamacare is a perfect example of this as it was practically gutted from what it intended to be, just for the sake of getting something in place). So now you have people who have seen what their government officials have done, "winning" by not compromising at all, even if it meant nothing would get done, and think that's an appropriate way to handle things and it's not. I think that plays a large part in why its so vitriolic on both sides. If you never feel like your side has to compromise, you'd get frustrated/angry when the other side refuses to. The liberal side sees the Republicans never having to compromise and getting what they want, and they see it as a valid technique; the conservative side has seen their side constantly refusing to compromise, so why start now?

President Trump gave an inspirational speech and the hoi polloi followed the American Dream II. Long live the Nasdaq, S&P500 and Dow 30

Well, that is better population control than Planned Parenthood.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

None of the media onslaught nor the liberal meltdowns seem to have an effect on Trump. In fact, it only provides him an opportunity to get stronger.

I see no rational nor viable opposition to Trump. Its all just whining and making up all kinds of stupid stories and name calling, none of which even sticks, nor provide any actual value. It really is truly a sad time for the opposition.

The longer they stay in denial, the further they drift into the wilderness eventually into oblivion.

Very, very sad, yet very, very funny.

Your posts would be great if they had any substance, or facts, or indeed basis in reality. They're more reminiscent of a Game of Thrones write up. Keep it up - it's funny.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Right on cue.

Quote:
Donald Trump’s attorney general Jeff Sessions twice spoke with the Russian ambassador to the United States during the presidential campaign.

The Washington Post, citing justice department officials, first reported that Sessions met with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak once in September 2016, when US intelligence officials were investigating Russian interference in the presidential election, and once in the summer of that year.

It was communications with Kislyak that led to the firing of Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, in February.
How is the Swamp-draining coming along?

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

According to your article quoted during Session's Senate interview (under oath) he said "“I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians.”

Now we have;
Quote:
A spokeswoman for Sessions confirmed that the meetings took place,
He certainly should not lead the investigation into ties between Russia and the Trump campaign!

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Isn't there a USA law preventing citizens from having contact with foreign governments, which are under sanctions? Russia was sanctioned by the UN after it invaded the Crimea and Jeff Sessions should be charged with breaking that USA law!

As you say "should". Won't happen under Trump and afterwards it'll be long forgotten. Sessions is safe.

No way José.

I doubt it. Otherwise the people who negotiated the Iran deal need to go to prison.

Citizens yes, but not appointed or elected officials.
I believe Sessions was a Senator at the time?

His job is essentially the top law enforcement officer of the country, yet he lied under oath. Maybe I'm wrong, but I see that as the crux of the matter.

What he actually said was "...and I didn't have, not have communication with the Russians and I'm unable to comment on that."

TBH - I am amazed that so many are keeping up this pointless argument with Phos a a few others... what is the point? (apart from enjoying the fun of such nonsense as said above)...

I still find it bizarre that there are foreigners here in Switzerland that wholly endorse, nay embrace Tronald Dump. I sort of feel that they are trolling and winning because we keep taking the bait. I often wonder if their faces match the images I have of them in my head:
