The psychological make-up of a person and their mental health, are two different things. Absolutely anyone can have problems with their mental health, regardless of what their psychological profile is.

Trump regularly displays one of the traits that has become a red flag for me, by refering to himself in the third person. I believe we all come across people who display that trait, and it's often indicitive of other personality issues.
His leadership, treatment of the press, knee-jerk tweeting and obsessive ways of doing things outside of protocol (and making sure everyone knows it) suggest someone who is utterly overwhelmed.

He's only 6 weeks into his tenure and he's feeling the burn of not being a politician. Whatever preparation he thought he had through being a businessman and TV personality clearly isn't enough and he seems to be oozing a feeling of inadequacy.

Maybe he will submit to his team to groom him as more of a statesman over the coming months but they are currently letting him get his crazy exuberance out of his system for the first few weeks, or maybe they'll just give him enough rope to hang himself.

Who knows? But he certainly looks like a man who has bitten off more than he can chew.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Sometimes I get the impression that it is easier to believe him to be a goggle-eyed buffoon than to accept he has managed to get elected as POTUS

I can't wait for the 400 pages of "Was Trump a good president?" - which will appear on EF after his second term.

Oddly enough it seems to have coincided with the rise in popularity of reality TV where the generic goggle-eyed buffoon gets the phone vote to stay on another week in the big brother house, the apprentice or because next week everyone can snigger over his paso doblé.

Freak-show is the new vote-winning politics.

That's quite an interesting observation. I'm not a fan of talent shows or reality TV at all, but you can't avoid news or gossip about them. On more than one occasion, you hear of a "joke act" or thoroughly unpleasant individual has obviously outstayed their welcome, simply because the public (and almost certainly the programme makers) have deliberately kept them in, purely for the entertainment/comedy and, ultimately ratings, value.

The US presidency has effectively become the ultimate reality TV show .

Ben Carson would be a strong challenger.

Ben Carson (Housing and Urban Development Secretary) refers to African American "slaves as immigrants who came at the bottom of slave ships" who worked not 5 days but 6 days a week

Well Reagan led the way and Schwarzenegger was Governor of California so why not Oprah?

Reagen and Schwarzenegger went into politics, not the top job. Personally, I reckon Oprah would be as divisive as Trump.

You just know Trump's doing a bang-up job simply by looking at the people who can't stand the fact that he's the President.

It's also pretty revealing that his leadership must be bordering on ineffective and lacklustre if that's his main benchmark of success. How embarrassing for him.

Ben Carson starts his new job and immediately draws criticism for saying slaves were "involuntary immigrants".

So if I understand correctly, your criterion for Trump's success is that he is pissing off those whose views you don't like.

No mention of whether he is helping the poor whites, creating jobs, draining the swamp or all the other positive and useful aims that he mentioned during his campaign. Sad.

I think this goes way beyond, nobody in their right minds would tweet bullshit like "Any negative polls are fake news" in earnest.

It is nothing to do with what the media tells me, and more because I genuinely, wholeheartedly believe he is a narcissistic sociopath and that he has very clearly shown this on numerous occasions while in the public eye. He is imo pretty much the dictionary definition of the condition.

If you think Trump is merely "attention seeking" as though it can be compared to some harmless act from some random online kid then I am once more surprised at how separated you are from reality and common sense. I mean seriously, your logic is at a minimum baffling and frequently borders on utterly bizarre.
The fact you need to shower me with insults does not surprise me at all.

It is easy to understand this phenomenon - people will believe what they actively want to believe, no matter what reality offers them.

Of course that they think Trump winning as POTUS is merely accidental. En plus, his tan is very important. These are the messages we are getting from his opponents.

Yes, winning US ellections depends on sheer luck. As flipant as his fashion sense. Correct?

Now...who is it, exactly, who expects these flipant qualities they mention to be important for POTUS. Who keeps mentioning them as worthy arguments. Luck, tan..his tweets, media mishaps and random brainfarts. Those arguments are seriously analysed by his opponents as if it was something substantive.

It ain't. And if people are taking him for an orange flippant bafoon (with all those petty arguments), I feel they are just showing their own lack of depth seasoned with a decent dose of anger and violence. It is unappetising and will not win them any larger support.
