| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | We can always find contrary clips from his speeches.
We need to wait and see what he actually does.
He has attempted to ban refugees and immigrant visas from certain countries.
He has stopped the fast tracking of H1B visas.
He has accelerated the deportation of undocumented immigrants.
Are these actions consistent with a man who supports immigration?
It may be a false stereotype but I believe the "uneducated white males" have strong views on people keeping their word.
If the Obamacare replacement is significantly less than promised (which seems to be the case) then likely he will face a strong reaction?
He really needs to keep his promises about reviving jobs for this group. Stopping or reducing H1B visas will not help this group
He has less than 3 months on office... in that same time Obama banned more people...... and do not ever Forget that the "muslim ban list" was created by Obama calling them "High Risk Countries"..... ofc you have to be half dead to believe it is a muslim ban.... if you are Christian and you come from one of those countries you are still banned...... and Pakistan or Saudi Arabia are not included... i just wonder why did Obama not include Pakistan and Saudi Arabia???

So can we please drop the 'flyover country' nonsense? It ain't helpin'.
.
| | | | | I wasn't trying to help - its beyond salvation anyway. I was trying to explain why in those area people tend to vote Trump. Whether this is good or bad, its anyones opinion.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | My opinion is irrelevant, I do not live or vote in the US.
And like you I will probably never qualify for a US immigrant visa (assuming your self description was correct?).
So we can both discuss positive and negative aspects of Trump without ever having the inconvenience of having to live with them
Exactly we can also discuss the legitimacy of BLM without being afraid of the riots!
I just hope those facist trump supporters are able to fight back against antifa...... or we are gonna Keep getting more of those disgusting antifa stickers all over the place.

Must be a very good reason because Trump did not include them either?
You claim Trump just followed Obama's list? Does Trump have no original ideas? I thought Trump did not support Obama's decisions?
"He has less than 3 months on office" and already the Obamacare replacement looks to be a lot less than promised; he would have done more for the "uneducated white males" if he had kept his fingers off Obamacare.
Maybe Congress will fail the Bill today? | This user would like to thank marton for this useful post:

You should take more public transport.
@marton, oh we can also talk more about how nice and tolerant muslims are without being afraid of getting one of our body parts chopped...or without being thrown from "the tallest building the eye can see" while being blind folded and at the end have all the kids of the neighbourhood finish us off with stones.

And while I'm in pleading mode: wherever you are regstered to vote, please continue to pester your congress critters with your opinions, hold them accountable - and vote in the mid terms.
| | | | | Exactly.
This is what I mean by productive activism. People contacting their congressional reps and giving their opinions. There has been an enormous increase in communications to representatives since the election.
Some offices have been swamped with calls, visits etc, to the extent that reps are overwhelmed. Town halls are full and often heated.
At Rutgers (the state uni of NJ), they have a course for women interested in running for public office. Applications or registrations (i forget which) have increased 3 fold. And yes, i see the obvious inequality but women don't run for office as often.
Interest in running for public office at local levels is on the rise. Anecdotally, I have a friend running for mayor in her small mid Atlantic town. And I've seen lots of anecdotal evidence elsewhere.
This is all good stuff for democracy in the US. In an odd way, Trump and his administration might be responsible for decreasing inaction and ambivalence. Perhaps not by positive example, but if it increases citizen involvement it's a good thing.

I agree, i just hope more votes from the left Keep changing into the right, trumps candidacy made it glaringly obvious that the Mainstream media lies and manipulates Videos.... i just hope that republican clubs in the universities are finally able to talk freely without being afraid of violence or without getting boycotted by the left who threaten the University higher ups with constant "demonstrations".
I do not care about them trying to shoot down Events of the right by using physical violence(because it repeatedly shows their intolerance).
The corrupt Mainstream media losing credibility is also great for Democracy xD.

Did you already Forget about Megyn Kelly???
Only Tucker Carlson has been mildly fair, marton would be surprised to know that Carlson has criticized Trump about his tweets....TO HIS FACE!(trumps)

Every one has an element of bias. You just have to listen to a variety of sources and make up your own mind. People can try to be objective and report facts, but they're people. You have to listen and think for yourself.
One of the biggest problems of late is the notion of false equivalency, almost a tit for tat in lieu of "balance".

When they sit inside of Hillarys private jet and everybody jokes and Plays toghether and make funny gossipy questions.... and then they get the chance to interview trump and hammer him on an extract from a speech.

Ofc i am, that is the reason why i am thinking about what is happening to women and gays in Saudi arabia... you know if i thought i was the center of the universe i would care more about not having an "islamophobe" president just because i want to remain "proud" of being french while at the same time calling out "ultra nationalists".

| | | | | It's telling that you firstly make a bold claim with all the bullishness and confidence of someone who apparently is an authority on such things then when pressed for either an example or to back up your reasoning, you just can't manage it so immediately dodge the question then start throwing petty insults and clichés around.
How Trump-esque of you. | The following 2 users would like to thank for this useful post:

I was reading an article today on what the new "Trumpcare" would offer the American public. Or should I say, "what it does NOT offer". After reading this list, I had to wonder what was actually left on the bill to benefit anyone?
The proposal is to eliminate ten essential benefits that, according to the Affordable Care Act, must be offered as part of any insurance plan. Those benefits are:
• Outpatient care without a hospital admission, known as ambulatory patient services
• Emergency services
• Hospitalization
• Pregnancy, maternity, and newborn care
• Mental health and substance use disorder services, including counseling and psychotherapy
• Prescription drugs
• Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices, which help people with injuries and disabilities to recover
• Laboratory services
• Preventive care, wellness services, and chronic disease management
• Pediatric services, including oral and vision care for children
