Judging from this video, Trump only briefly squints at the sun without his eclipse glasses and they all wear their eclipse glasses to stare at it.

Big day in Trump's calendar when he will hold a "Campaign" rally in Phoenix, Arizona against the wishes of GOP leaders who would prefer him to do that in States with less GOP support so as to drum up the voters.
Not clear why Trump chose this location; maybe he wants to attack some of his Senate critics like Arizona GOP Senators McCain and Flake?
Trump also upset GOP leaders by publicly supporting Ward who is standing against Flake in 2018; it is GOP policy to support sitting Senators when they come up for re-election.
It is claimed the local rally organizers are trying to prevent Ward attending this rally.
It is believed Arizona GOP Senators McCain and Flake will not attend the rally!
The GOP Arizona governor said he will meet Trump at the airport but also not attend the rally.
There are rumours there will be big protests so there is a very heavy police presence in Phoenix today. A big headache for the Presidential Secret Service protection detail, many of whom are now working unpaid (as posted earlier) due to legal caps on their combined salary and overtime.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | I trust by now you've all heard about Carrier's announcement to move 2000 jobs (some speak of 1'400) to Mexico. Apparently Trump has managed to reduce that to 1000, keeping 1'000 jobs in the US. What role Pence played is anybody's guess, he's still Governor of Indiana.
Turns out that came at a significant cost:
$9'000 tax reduction per job for ten years, or $90k per job in total.
This shows two things:
One, Trump has no trouble using federal coffers to subsidise companies. Coupled with the suggested tax cuts (especially for big earners) expect a much bigger budget deficit for years.
Two, and at least as important:
A company that threatens to move jobs abroad can reap some nice subsidy, gladly provided for by Trump and paid for by you, the US taxpayer. Look forward to many more similar announcements and deals. | | | | | Seems everything is not quite so rosy as was claimed by Trump (not by you)!
According to an article by Chuck Jones the retired president of Indiana’s United Steelworkers Local 1999.
By the end of this year, Carrier and its parent United Technologies will have already shipped a total of 1,250 good union jobs from Indiana to Mexico.
During President Trump’s first six months in the White House, there have been 37 mass layoffs in Indiana. Across the country, more than 140,000 workers have been given pink slips and companies have continued to ship jobs overseas. Source | Quote: | | | | That’s why I’m [Chuck Jones] coming out of retirement and going on a rust-belt “Pickup Truck Tour” with Good Jobs Nation, the Communications Workers of America and other allies to call on Trump to pick-up his pen and keep his pledge to workers. | | | | | | The following 2 users would like to thank marton for this useful post: | |

Damn, the man gets EVERYWHERE!
"About 5,000 carrot-coloured ecstasy tablets in the shape of Donald Trump's head have been seized by German police in the north-western city of Osnabruck."

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | The first link you quote "Defending the indefensible: Bias at the New York Times" points in turn to another link to justify this headline but this second link does not actually support this claim of bias.
The last paragraph in the second link says | Quote: | | | | "It may not always seem fair to Mr. Trump or his supporters. But journalism shouldn’t measure itself against any one campaign’s definition of fairness.
It is journalism’s job to be true to the readers and viewers, and true to the facts, in a way that will stand up to history’s judgment.
To do anything less would be untenable." | | | | | This seems to me to be the opposite of bias?
The second link you posted stated "there is a perception of bias [by the Times readership]" but this is not the same as evidence of actual bias which will be discussed in a later article.

Past my bedtime! G'night! | | | | | Apparently some Trump supporters have attended disguised as Antifa, presumably to kick off so that they can blame the left.
Mike Cernovich is one of Trumps more vocal online supporters. No idea why he's put this info out there, maybe he has problems with the tactics. Or he's forgotten that Twitter can be seen outside your circle. https://mobile.twitter.com/cernovich...44132999487488 |

"Donald Trump has vowed to close down government if that is what it takes to build his wall along the Mexico border." http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41020779
How exactly that would help is anybody's guess. Doesn't Congress have to approve the budget to build the wall? Is he going to fund it out of his own pocket? Or ask for donations from his adoring fans? |

The shutdown itself comes as no surprise though.

It's a matter of pride (again, and always). And then when government closedown causes havoc, "it's not his fault" (it never is :-)).
Oops, Urs Max beat me to it...

Mike Cernovich, a big Trump fan, has said it, so it must be true. Not like the fake news from failing mass media.
PS He did believe Pizzagate too, but, hey, we all get a little bad luck sometimes.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President?
As forecast at his Arizona rally Trump did indeed attack his Senate critics Arizona GOP Senators McCain and Flake | Quote: | | | | Trump said he "will not mention any names," but said repeatedly that Republicans were "one vote" short on health care. | | | | | | Quote: | | | | Then, attacking Flake, Trump said: "Nobody wants me to talk about him. Nobody knows who the hell he is. And now, we haven't mentioned any names, so now, everybody's happy." | | | | | As expected, | Quote: | | | | Notably not part of the program: Kelli Ward, the former state senator who Trump praised on Twitter for running against Flake last week. Ward was expected to be in the crowd but was not speaking and was not a VIP attendee. | | | | | EDIT _ Summary from Politico | Quote: | | | | He threatened a government shutdown, essentially promised to pardon a controversial sheriff, made false claims about the news media and his opponents, pushed for a legislative change that infuriates Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, criticized two Republican senators and intimated he would pull out of NAFTA. | | | | | Source
Seems he departed from the carefully worded speech on his teleprompter

And now we have the strange spectacle of a group associated with the Senate leader McConnell attacking a GOP candidate for the Senate
THE SENATE LEADERSHIP FUND has cut a video branding Kelli Ward as “not conservative, just crazy ideas.”
REMEMBER: This is the Mitch McConnell aligned super PAC going after the candidate boosted by President Donald Trump. http://bit.ly/2wv6VKb Source |

Presidents have not, until now, gone after candidates of their own party. Tearing up this tradition, Trump started a fight by criticizing GOP choice Flake (a Trump hater) and boosting Ward (a Trump fan). So McConnell is fighting back. Since he and Trump shouted at each other over the phone on the 9th of August, they have not spoken.
Who needs an opposition when Trump is president! With any luck his efforts will get a Democrat elected...
More popcorn!
