To be fair, Barry's book was released in 1995, before he was even a senator. Certainly not when he was president.
Hillary's was from 2014, when she was no longer Secretary of State.
I'm sure we can all see the difference if we try hard enough.

compared to, let's say, people that shout diversity/racism this and that all the time (emmy awards 2017): https://i.redd.it/332pd9fdpjmz.jpg
(well at least they tried: put a few poc in the front rows.)

(well at least they tried: put a few poc in the front rows.) | | | | | I've no idea who was in charge of the guest list for the Emmys, but since you want to compare, I doubt any of those in the audience think this, let alone say it: | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | And with that, you'd like to suggest that Colbert is a Nazi? Do you see equivalence between that suggestion and the accusation that Trump is racist? Do you not see that one is an unfounded allegation, while there is an abundance of evidence to support the other?

And James Garfield produced a comic about his cat.
What both men have in common is that they were killed in assasinations.
So Trump better be careful.

At the UN today
"Trump thanked Haley for the introduction and paused for a brief applause. “I actually saw great potential right across the street, to be honest with you,” the president said, referring to Trump World Tower. “And it was only for the reason that the United Nations was here that that turned out to be such a successful project.”" Source
Ignoring the fact that the UN and Annan both objected to the project and made subsequent complaints.

You had to change Trump's words before you could make your point; he said people (meaning all Mexicans) he did not state "illegal" Mexicans.

You had to change Trump's words before you could make your point; he said people (meaning all Mexicans) he did not state "illegal" Mexicans. | | | | | | Quote: | | | | When do we beat Mexico at the border? They're laughing at us, at our stupidity. And now they are beating us economically. They are not our friend, believe me. But they're killing us economically.
The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else's problems.
(APPLAUSE)
Thank you. It's true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.
But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we're getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They're sending us not the right people.
It's coming from more than Mexico. It's coming from all over South and Latin America, and it's coming probably -- probably -- from the Middle East. But we don't know. Because we have no protection and we have no competence, we don't know what's happening. And it's got to stop and it's got to stop fast. | | | | | seems to me he is talking about illegals crossing the border. also: is it they're or their rapists?
anyway, is this the prime example of his racism?

According to you he said "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best."
Mexican migrants with doctorates in the U.S. by date of entry
Period 1990-2009 Number 9,383, 46.0% share of the total
Source: BBVA Research with Census Bureau data, Current Population Survey (CPS), USA, March 2009
So, yes, definitely xenophobic.

So, yes, definitely xenophobic. | | | | | oh ok, so trump is not racist then? that was what 22yards stated.
phds run across the border? really? pretty sure most, if not all, mexican phds immigrate legally which is totally fine by everyone including trump. phd or not. that is what he means with "they're not sending you" pointing to the hispanics for trump that immigrated legally and attend his rallies en masse.
dunno btw. 9383/0.46=20397 total immigrants from mexico in a 20 year period? what are those numbers from your copypaste?

Another day, another episode in the soap story | Quote: | | | | Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump
I don't know Putin, have no deals in Russia, and the haters are going crazy - yet Obama can make a deal with Iran, #1 in terror, no problem!
:11 AM - 7 Feb 2017 | | | | | Today;
Sitting in a makeshift studio overlooking the Moscow river on a crisp day in November 2013, Donald Trump pouted, stared down the lens of a television camera and said something he would come to regret.
Asked by an interviewer whether he had a relationship with Russian president Vladimir Putin, the brash New York businessman could not resist boasting. “I do have a relationship with him,” Trump said. Source
“Our committee’s investigation will not be complete unless we fully understand who President Trump met with when he was over in Russia for Miss Universe, and what follow-up contacts occurred,” Eric Swalwell, a California Democrat on the House intelligence committee, said in an interview.

"Mexico's not sending their best". So you believe that the state—the government of Mexico—is sending its citizens illegally over the border? State-sponsored illegal migration? You've got at least as many screws loose as Trump.

yes trump and i totally believe that the mexican government has a secret scheme in which they put people in boxes and ship them over the border. possibly by catapult. all in an effort to undermine the usa and get rid of scum from mexico. just picture the handwringing and moustache curling going on under the sombreros.
definitely not figure of speech. no sir. and definitely makes no sense at all in the context of trump's way of thinking and speaking in terms of competition between the us, mexico, china, etc etc.
well you got me with the race thing i guess. how should we specify what definition of race we actually use? i mean, if even families are a race according to your dict... are you being racist towards the trumps?!

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President?
Definitely not my dictionary. I understand that Merriam-Webster is beloved by all Americans. Well, all those who can read. For that reason, by the way, I'm not sure I can answer your question about whether Trump meant "they're rapists" or "their rapists", as I doubt he knows the difference. But in context and following a logical flow (both of which are long stretches wherever Trump is concerned, I know), and if, as you contend, Trump had somehow against all odds correctly employed a figure of speech, "they're rapists" makes more sense.
