Who cares? Those pesky Puerto Ricans can't vote in the next presidential election, anyway...
And even if they could they’d vote Democrat.

Fukushima, marton. Fukushima.
Some good news and some bad.

good news; the operators have received permission to start up two nuclear reactors in the nearby sister power station to Fukishima.

bad news; a 6.3 earthquake today near Fukishima

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

John Kelly's personal cellphone was compromised, White House believes.
White House tech support discovered the suspected breach after Kelly turned his phone in to tech support staff this summer.

Quote:
Bill Marczak, a senior research fellow with the Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs, said the worst-case scenario would be “full access,” in which an attacker would be able to essentially control a device, including its microphone and camera.
So it seems that hackers could access John Kelly's personal cellphone to hear and see what he was doing even if he did not use the phone for official business.

This phone has been compromised for a long time.

So the former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security and current chief of staff in the White House never bothered to have regular security checks of his personal phone. Would be funny if it was not so serious!

Another poll!

Just 24 percent of Americans believe the country is heading in the right direction - that’s a 10-point drop since June.
Overall, 67 percent of Americans disapprove of the job Trump is doing in office

Source

I assume Trump's base will support him regardless?

Doesn't say if it was an Android or iOS phone - which is a shame. How can they leave fainbois of both camps with such a cliff-hanger?

Exploits for the former are a dime a dozen and could be any kind of malware that lurks in the playstore in droves - or some kind of drive-by download that exploits any of the countless numbers of unpatched vulnerabilities in the countless versions of Android that are out there.

iOS is a different game.

I'd say that in almost 100% of the cases, there's a nation-state behind it.
Commercial exploit peddlers like Zerodium pay six-figures for such an exploit and only nation-states can afford to pay for using them (if they didn't find them themselves in the first place) - and I would assume the authorization to use such an exploit has to come from quite high up, too.

On the flip side, the markets have gone berserk this year and the Dow and Nasdaq have hit multiple record highs. Either everyone's riding the gravy train to a private island in retirement, or we're in for a big-time correction and/or outright crash at some point during this presidency.

The rise in US markets is partly due to the fall in value of the US$, if US prices stayed the same then people using other currencies could effectively buy US stocks at a discount.

It is not possible to point to any specific action by Trump that caused this improvement so logic says it is partly due to people believing Trump will do the "right thing"¨
What the right thing actually is and will Trump achieve it only time will tell, example, tax reform!

Some positive news about Puerto Rico!
The US Federal Communications Commission has approved Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc’s application to provide emergency cellular service to Puerto Rico through balloons.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico has struggled to regain communications services. The FCC said on Friday that 83% of cell sites remain out of service, while wireless communications company are deploying temporary sites.

Source

But as of today only 10.7% of Puerto Rican electricity power customers have service so how will they charge their mobile phones (so 90% have no fridges or freezers or electric kettles or electric cooking)?
And only 55.5% have fresh water.

Source

17 days since the storm hit

Although 'collateral damage' may often be used by the US military as doublespeak and an excuse for state-sponsored terrorism or for gross incompetence, there is no way that the shooting in Las Vegas could be considered 'collateral damage'

Please do not lump 300 million + people in with one guy. Our president might be a hypocrite (among other things) and some Americans are too, but not all - not by a long stretch.

What are you trying to say?

Are you saying that you expect that Trump's drop in approval ratings won't hurt his approvals ratings.

Or are you saying that fewer people supporting him won't affect the number of people supporting him?

I am saying that my opinion is the people who voted for him last time will also vote for him next time regardless of what they say to pollsters.

So you are saying that it is bad for Trump to be down in a poll you believe to be inaccurate?

The poll was about people's opinion of Trump, it did not ask who they would vote for!
I did not say I believe the poll is inaccurate.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Pity it is not Friday!

Trump sent several tweets today insulting Republican Sen. Bob Corker.

Corker replied;

Quote:
Senator Bob Corker ✔@SenBobCorker
It's a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.
5:13 PM - Oct 8, 2017
Then the ex-New York Attorney General Preet Bharara, now a senior legal analyst at CNN, re-tweeted Corker's response, remarking, "An adult day care centre whose chief resident can't count to 51."

These are grown men?

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Yet another new poll with terrible approval figure for Trump!

Source

Whether this means Trump will lose voters is dependent on the Democrats finding a candidate who is less unpopular than Trump.

Trump's best chance to improve his ratings is to deliver his legislative agenda. But with a wafer thin Republican majority in the Senate then his strategy of insulting Republican senators by Tweet seems to be counter productive?

He should be trying to bring them together into a harmonised team!

Trump doesn't do "team". He's the boss and everyone else is simply expected to do as he says.
