How's that Russian nothing burger coming along?
Looks like it comes with fries, a shake and a free toy, so far... and more to come.

"It's delicious," as Loz would say.

More about the growing Puerto Rico scandal!

Some 3.4 million Americans are facing "alarming" conditions more than a month after Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico, UN human experts said, calling the disaster response there ineffective compared with the urgency of federal aid to storm-ravaged states on the US mainland.

More than 80 per cent of the population, or close to 2.8 million people, continue to live without electricity.
Few hospitals are functioning, some residents are left to consume contaminated water, and thousands are displaced "without any relief in sight," the experts said in a statement.

To quote Trump " Few people knew the young, low level volunteer named George, " - in this picture this supposedly low level guy was sitting at a table with Trump, Jeff Sessions and possibly even Manafort (hard for me to tell from the photo) discussing security; not usually a topic for low level people.

Indeed look at the date, just a couple of weeks after Papadopoulos met the Professor who claimed to have Russian contacts.

Incidentally Papadopoulos was informed about Russian hacking of Democrat emails months before anybody else knew. Maybe he forgot to tell Trump who claimed the hacking was by the Chinese or a 40 pound guy in bed.

Of course it is not the National Security Council but it was Trump's shadow council which is as official as it gets during a campaign?
How do you define what are "official" actions during a campaign; or do you reject Sander's comment that he did not do anything official because nothing was official during the campaign?
Sam Clovis, a controversial nominee for President Trump’s Agriculture Department, was the campaign official who encouraged George Papadopoulos to set up a meeting with Russian officials, according to The Washington Post.

Clovis, who was then the campaign co-chairman, encouraged Papadopoulos to make the trip to Russia in order to take an “off the record” meeting with government officials there, the Post reported late Monday.

House GOP delays tax bill rollout as key details have yet to be finalized

Seems to be heading for the same black hole as the Healthcare bill, GOP have been talking about tax reform for so long that one would think they long had a detailed and agreed plan in the cupboard all ready to roll out?

The article says nothing about US tax (cut) on foreign earnings, which would be of interest to CH-like countries. Swiss newspapers are suspiciously disinterested.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Rumours of cracks appearing within the Trump family

Quote:
After Monday’s indictments, the president blamed Jared Kushner in a call to Steve Bannon.
When Roger Stone recently told Trump that Kushner was giving him bad political advice, Trump agreed, according to someone familiar with the conversation.
Source¨

Meanwhile the Trump presidency continues like a poorly scripted, low budget comedy series
Quote:
Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York state, told reporters: “The president’s tweets, I think, were not helpful ...

“It was referring back to an immigration policy that dealt with a lottery and blaming people who passed that immigration policy. His tweet wasn’t even accurate as far as I’m concerned: that was a bipartisan law that was passed that had basically no relevance to this situation.”
We have a US President who seems to get his intelligence briefings from early morning cable TV and then acts on these without attempting any verification from the reputable sources that he owns.

Trump also tweeted "I have just ordered Homeland Security to step up our already Extreme Vetting Program." while Homeland Security are denying any new instructions received

you're preaching to the choir, anyone with an education could see this was going to be a car crash (tho not to this extent). What is the mentality of his supporters? at a minimum he's a narcissist, an egomaniac, a demagogue, a misogynist and a liar, yet they think he will do a good job? wtf!

I do not know where Trump gets his numbers but the official statistics look pretty flat (which is an improvement from the decade long decline).
Especially in the Appalachians ( NE Alabama, NW Georgia, NW South Carolina, E Tennessee, W Virginia, E Kentucky, West Virginia, and SW Pennsylvania.) which is Trump's focus for improving coal production.

Source

Edit - Weekly US coal production totaled an estimated 14.9 million st in the week ended October 21, virtually unchanged from the prior week but down 1.5% from the year-ago week, US Energy Information Administration data showed Thursday.

It was the third straight week the production estimate has dipped below last year's levels, and the fourth time in the past five weeks.

If the terrorist has a good lawyer he could probably get him off on the basis a fair trial is not possible after this statement by the President.

Undoubtedly. A statement like that is more or less guaranteed to contaminate any jury pool.

Here's a sad article about unemployed miners not wanting to retrain, as Trump has promised to bring their jobs back. I feel sorry for them, even if they will never blame him when his promise of renewal comes to nothing.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Sam Clovis, a former Trump campaign official who has become entangled in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation, has withdrawn his nomination for a top post in the Agriculture Department.

“We respect Mr. Clovis’s decision to withdraw his nomination," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.

Clovis was nominated to be the Agriculture Department's chief scientist. He was already facing scrutiny over his apparent lack of credentials for the post as he had no scientific qualifications.

Clovis was quickly revealed to be the high-level campaign official with whom Papadopoulos allegedly spoke about communicating with Russian officials.

The Washington Post reported that Clovis, Trump’s national campaign co-chairman, encouraged Papadopoulos to travel to Russia.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions is once again under scrutiny on Capitol Hill regarding his candor about Russia and the Trump campaign amid revelations that he rejected a suggestion by Papadopoulos at a March 16th meeting to convene a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump last year.

At his Senate confirmation hearing in January, Sessions denied any contacts with Russian officials during the presidential campaign. He later acknowledged that he met then-Russian ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak twice during the campaign.
He also testified that he was "not aware" of anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicating with the Russians.

A source familiar with Sessions' thinking said that Sessions "has no clear recollection" of Papadopoulos and any further interactions with him, even though two were seated next to each other at a second meeting of Trump's foreign policy team at the Capitol Hill Club.

Source

Edit; Former Trump foreign policy adviser Carter Page privately testified Thursday that he mentioned to Jeff Sessions he was traveling to Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign!

Meanwhile, if you all have a hard time sleeping, here is the section-by-section summary of the proposed legislation prepared by the Ways and Means Committee. Note: summary is 80-something pages, vs. the complete text of the legislation is over 400 pages. Good times.
