Now the GOP has pushed through their tax bill, do you think they'll simply just let Trump trip and fall on his sword?
Wont work if the sword is as tiny as his hands...

Tax bill has not yet passed. The House and Senate versions need to be reconciled prior to signing by POTUS. Still face considerable political pressure from Republican in blue states, so its not law yet. Democrats will likely launch a repeal immediately afterwards, which will maintain pressure on the GOP to stick together.

After the tax bill, the battle lines will likely be immigration reform.
As President, Trump is the de facto leader of the GOP. I'm sure there will be fights. They love fighting. But I think liberals are by nature more likely to turn on themselves than conservatives.

In his case, he already had health care coverage. He complained of severe stomache pains and was rushed to the hospital, told to wait in the waiting room. But he was apparently suffering from cardiac arrest, and died before he can be looked at...
While some of your points are true, the fact is that Obamacare didn't kill your friend. A heart attack did. That sucks, don't get me wrong.

Emergency rooms in the U.S. have been overwhelmed since forever. Patients with no insurance use them to get routine treatment, knowing they can't legally be denied services. GPs in rural areas are declining because specialist medicine is more lucrative. This has been happening since before Obamacare, and is happening in other countries too.

Even in the UK with its amazing NHS, people who should see a GP for a non-emergency are turning to A&E because none of the GPs in the area have an appointment opening for weeks. The system is strained everywhere.

By your own words, your friend went to the ER complaining about stomach pains - not chest pains. The triage nurses ask questions about your symptoms first to determine the seriousness of the case. If the nurses deem a case is life-threatening, the person is sent back immediately and treatment begins. The insurance discussion takes place much later. For whatever reason, your friend's symptoms didn't present in such a way that triage felt he needed treatment immediately. Maybe your friend didn't realize he was having a heart attack. That also sucks, but it isn't Obamacare's fault either.

I've been to the ER many times over the years, both as a patient and as a friend/family member. Regardless of insurance, or lack of it, I was always treated in order of priority. Sometimes it was a really long, literally painful wait. Other times I was first in line, particularly when my heart condition was mentioned.

I think the Rs are biding their time. Congress and the FBI are running concurrent investigations into the Russian meddling. So far it's not a total nothing burger, but it's not exactly a smoking gun either.

The Rs are in a good position. Trump can only be removed from office if he's tried and impeached in the House and removed from office by the Senate. The Rs control both chambers at present. If they remove Trump they get Pence, who is arguably more "presidential" with his behavior and knows how to get things done in Washington. He was a representative in Congress and a governor after all.

I'm not saying Pence would be better for the country, but he'd sure get a lot more legislation passed than Trump just because he knows the game.

Of course not. My point was that Obamacare is about health insurance policies rather than healthcare itself. It doesn't necessarily improve healthcare itself for many people. It degrades it in some cases.

Not so sure a more gentle personal approach is the issue in this situation. These guys in Washington have been sitting there for decades getting nothing done. I don't think any of them, Trump included, should be getting any special kid glove treatment. I quite like how fires are being lit from under them left and right, the media included. It isn't for the faint of heart, so snowflakes need not apply.

I don't think the establishment should be treated like a social club. It is serious business that affects real people. They all need to be put on point and held responsible.

Ok, so do you think that any of the republican plans was better than Obamacare?

Or that the new tax system is going to improve healthcare?

(we are not talking about some cosmetic surgery here, people actually die in the US because of their crap insurance system: https://tonic.vice.com/en_us/article...killing-people )

The republicans do not have a healthcare plan. They were bluffing all along.

The only thing on the horizon that sounds positive for healthcare at the moment is addressing the high cost of prescription drugs.

It is not finished yet!

They have to reconcile the differences between the two bills and then the House and Senate must vote again!

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Another day, another headline; Looking forward to the Twitter explosion now Trump's personal bank details were distributed!

Quote:
Bloomberg reported early on Tuesday that Deutsche Bank, the German bank that serves as Trump’s biggest lender, had been forced to submit documents about its client relationship with the president after Mueller issued the bank with a subpoena for information.

The new revelation makes it clear that Mueller and his team are investigating the president’s financial transactions. It is not clear whether Mueller is interested in the bank accounts because they are connected to the Russia probe or if he is investigating another matter.

Expensive, all those trips to Trump golf courses!

Quote:
House passes bill to fund overtime pay for Secret Service agents

The size of Trump’s family and its frequent travel and multiple residences have strained the Secret Service budget this year, which has resulted in agents effectively working without pay.

More than 1,000 have already reached the caps for salary and overtime pay before the end of this year; that amounts to about a third of the agent workforce.

And Trump pisses off the Muslim world yet again.

"US President Donald Trump will recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital, senior administration officials have said.

He is due to announce the controversial decision in a speech on Wednesday.

Mr Trump is also expected to approve moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, but not for several years.

Israel welcomes the changes but Arab leaders have warned against them, and Hamas, which controls Gaza, is calling for protests."

Arab leaders (including Palestine) have said this will stop Kushner's ME peace process. The White House said it will have no effect.
I wonder who will be correct?

86 countries (like the US today) have embassies in Tel Aviv whereas zero have embassies in Jerusalem.
It is claimed that Trump wants to keep this campaign promise but I do not understand why he made it in the first place?
Does his base really care where the US embassy is located in Israel?
How does this decision align with his "America first" policy?

Meanwhile Trump and the GOP RNC have switched their support to the Senate bid of an alleged child molester who is also alleged to be anti-Establishment which switch seemed unthinkable just a month ago.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) wrote a $100 check to Democrat Doug Jones, Moore’s opponent. “Country over party,” Flake wrote on the check.

Not just the Muslim world.. the WORLD

Last week there was a UN vote around Israel's jurisdiction of Jerusalem and it was 151 against, 6 for and 8 abstentions.

Quote:
The United Nations voted Thursday to adopt the draft resolution “Jerusalem” (document A/72/L.11), entailing “that any actions by Israel, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem were illegal and therefore null and void,”

An overwhelming 151 states voted in favor of adopting the resolution, while six states – Canada, Federated States of Micronesia, Israel, Marshall Islands, Nauru, United States of America – voted against the resolution and nine others abstained. The abstainers were Australia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Honduras, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, South Sudan, Togo
