Make Jerusalem into some sort of international autonomous self-governing city state that provides equal rights and equal access to all three religions. And if both Palestians and Israelis want to make their capital there and have their ministries and government there, why not? In terms of embassies, it would save a lot of money if a single embassy could handle the diplomatic contacts to both sides simulataneously.
So maybe Trump was just a bit too far ahead?
Acheieving such a solution would require both sides to relinquish their claim. | | | | | This is the only viable and peaceful solution I can think of, spot on Amogles. I also mentioned it in a previous post. | Quote: | | | | | Sounds like common sense to me. It'll never happen though. | | | | | Why not?

Make both parts of the city one UNO mandate, or whatever gets both to agree.

Because it would please none of the parties immediately involved. The Israelis would hate it, the Palesteinians would hate it. You'd be taking "their" city/capital away from them.

Perhaps we could build a big dome around Jerusalem (a la simpsons movie) and only allow all parties back in once they calm down and come to some peaceful agreement.

You'd be taking "their" city/capital away from them. | | | | | There is probably no solution that would please everybody.
Hence my proposal to leave that one unsolved for the time being and to shift focus away from the question of the border and capital and instead concentrate on economic and civil rights questions so you can actually create justice and wealth. A capial city or a border (if you are not personally affected) is a question of nationalistic pride. A job puts food on the table. You work hard, you get ahead and all that, and all of a sudden the path of terrorism becomes much less attractive to young people.
A generation or two later, nobody will remember why the two sides hated one another so, and the people who had axes to grind will all be dead, and you can then tackle the question of the capital city from a more relaxed and objective perspective.

But what if I was typing for him, including some proofreading?

Perhaps we can get around this by declaring Jerusalem the Holy City of Zeus and coming to a global consensus that no other people / religion has any claim.

So far as is known they were a relatively harmless religion apart from an unfortunate penchant for sacrificing donkeys.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | It was fun whilst it lasted. We'll always have Alabama. | | | | | Difficult times for the Congress/Trump tax cuts.
They can only afford to lose two votes in the Senate, lose one more and they will not pass the tax cuts; unless they do the same decent thing that Obama did when an opposing party senator was voted in and wait for them to be seated. In that case they can only afford to lose one vote in the Senate.
So far the following Republican Senators are doubtful yes votes; Marco Rubio R-Fl, Mike Lee of Utah, Bob Corker, Susan Collins of Maine, Jeff Flake and currently out due to sickness John McCain and Thad Cochran, R-Miss
There were concerns that some Democrat senators fearful about 2018 elections would vote with the Republicans but after the Virginia and Alabama results they are less fearful |

Washington Post list "The biggest Pinocchios of 2017", you usually need a subscription to read the original. - “I just found out Obama wiretapped me” Trump
- “This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration — period” then-White House press secretary Sean Spicer
- “The Russia story is fake news” Trump
- “This is the biggest tax cut in U.S. history” Trump
- “The tax bill will pay for itself” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin
I just showed the top five but there are more, even some none Trump related!

Could only happen in UK?
Greenwich councilors adopted a motion Thursday that said Trump wouldn’t be allowed into the borough! Source |

That's a shame, I was looking forward to him putting the N into Cutty Sark.
