If you think Genus is equivalent to sex:
What's the reproductive organ of a Stein? How/where do male and female Steine differ? If you think the sex of Stein/stone is male like its Genus, where is the equvalent of its penis and what does it look like? (otherwise where is its equivalent of a vulva?)

If you think Genus is equivalent to gender:
Where does this particular Stein position itself on the gender slide?

Btw the right part of your picture in Post #10339 translates differently if it's assumed to originally be Swiss German: She brought her toy railroad forth by puking, she produced it by puking.

Google translate can be a wonderful tool if one already has some knowledge of a language - at least about the syntax. I have to admit though that it gets better and better. It cannot replace learning a language....unfortunately. Btw, in German, grammatical gender doesn't always match biological gender. One perfect example being "das Mädchen"..

"Mädchen“ is neuter because it is diminutive, with the ending "...chen" (same goes for words ending in "...lein", or "...li" in Swiss German). As always, the gender and case of adjectives and pronouns have to agree with the noun. "Mädchen" is neuter, so "her (as we say in English) train set" is "seine Eisenbahn". "Seine" is the accusative, feminine form of "sein", the neutral third person singular pronoun that agrees with "Mädchen".

In other words, "seine" is the neutral pronoun, selected to represent "Mädchen", and is expressed here in its accusative, singular form to agree with "Eisenbahn". If the girl had been playing with her train set, it would have been "mit seiner Eisenbahn". This is an obvious case of gender =/= sex.

Of course, the sentence could also mean "the girl broke his train set", but as there is no male person mentioned, the natural assumption would be that we're talking about her toy.

For once, Google Translate got it right*, while the usually far superior DeepL gets it wrong!

This is a classic dilemma in regards with German grammar. Use logics or strictly follow the rules?

So glad Hillary lost. The world would have been in a duplicitous mess under her. The US is back on track with Trump.
