sounds like a fairy tale you read to your children At Thanksgiving maybe | Quote: | | | | | No, no, no. So, once upon a time the country was great, then it became the greatest, and now Trump will take the country back down a notch, from it being the greatest to making it great (again). | | | | | |

Great = positive form. A country is great if you don't compare it to any other country but judge it as such on its own merits only.
Greater = comparative form, there is one other country to compare it to and the USA is the greater of the two.
Greatest = superlative form, there is more than one other country to compare it to, and the USA is the greatest of them all.
So going from greatest to great involves nuking a large number of other countries.

I will concur with Meloncollie on this one, in that I have not seen much optimism at all around me. Sadness, anxiety, anger, and a worrisome increase in despicable attacks (verbal and physical) against others, but also, luckily, a lot of push-back from people who are willing to show that we must do the right thing. (The right thing = treating others as we wish to be treated).
For every person who displays a neonazi symbol, there is a person who speaks up to ensure that their neighbor's rights and safety are guaranteed.
I have not personally been on the receiving end of any racist/misogynist/nationalistic commentary...just yet. I am fully expecting it to happen though, at which point I'll give them my best scary b*tch look and, pointing my finger, will say "Oh no, you didn't" and proceed to give them a piece of my mind.
In two different instances, however, I have been in the company of two people who got verbally abused by some less-than-intelligent form of life. One actually turned out pretty funny, because the lady I was with is 100% Native American, and, at the "go back where you came from" comment, responded coolly that her tribe doesn't take any s*it and that HE should go back where HE came from. Shut the a-hole up, we giggled away.
Well, what can I say? We are nasty women after all. I try to be rational and do the right thing whenever I can. Meanwhile, I'm happy to celebrate the upcoming holiday with California hippies who will give me a hug and a kale smoothie when I tell them that, most of the time, I am rational and sensible, but, just some times, I feet like when He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named overturned the Ministry of Magic!
For those who celebrate it, Happy Thanksgiving and my best wishes of peace and serenity.

The writing is on the wall.
The Cost to Protect Against a U.S. Default Is Rising (But Still Low)
It’s gotten more expensive to buy insurance against a default in U.S. government debt following the presidential election.. http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2016/...but-still-low/
Post-election Debt Mathematics
Reset! Implement many cost savings programs, crash the economy, default on $20 trillion in debt, and create a depression that makes the 1930s feel like a sunny parade day at Disneyland. http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article57304.html
(I'll come back on this with pictures)

For those who celebrate it, Happy Thanksgiving and my best wishes of peace and serenity. | | | | | Mass hysteria and mass paranoia certainly occurred after right after the election. It was nauseating. I don't think it accomplished much more than turning people off of the reactions. People simply avoided it. Many of those I spoken to since have overcome their disgust. I suppose one's experience is anecdotal and subjective.
Since the election, consumer confidence soared 8 percentage points, and people expressed the most hopefulness in over 10 years. Consumer Sentiment in U.S. Jumps After Trump Election Victory Soaring Consumer Confidence: Are Americans Happy It's Trump, or Just Happy It's Over?
Confidence in Trump is at the same level GWB and Clinton had, although fear in Trump was much higher. Poll: Most say Trump will do a good job as president Half of Americans Are ‘More Confident’ in Donald Trump After the Election
I lot of this may depend on which echo chamber one chooses. Although paranoia is a mental health issue, and sane people know better than to dwell in that state.

. | | | | | Lucky you.
But, really, I wouldn't write this down if I didn't care: 1. don't expect that you'll remain completely serene and rational in those circumstances. I know, we all know who we are and all that jazz, but we're still people.
2. As much as I'd love you to give them a piece of your mind, think again. You never know whom are you dealing with, trust me. One of my Swiss friends that has worked in a psychiatric hospital said: you don't want to know how is it like to have these people's life. Just think it this way. Besides, sadly, every idiot can get a gun over there. Not all of these idiots (or just nasty small people) have a (severe) mental illness, some might just turn violent when confronted - physically or verbally. It happens way too often that a situation like this degenerates in something really nasty.
Just my 2 cents.

Charles M Blow, you nailed it. Thank you. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/23/op...get-along.html
And this woman is an inspiration. As one of the candidates, she is in the unique position of being able to demand a recount, now that the deadline for voters to request it is past.
Three key states, MI, PE and WI. The anomalies already detected are suspicious. http://www.vox.com/new-money/2016/11...on-fundraising
Let's hope a recount can at least put this to rest.
But, this: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...g-randa-kassis
on the 11th October looks like Putin was extremely sure of himself.

Seeing the history of Democrats, a recount is more likely to reveal their own voting irregularities.
