| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | I don't think they are sh1tholes, really, I am sure there are some pretty dire places in those countries that could be labeled as so, (shanty towns and slums) and I've personally spent a bit of time in some pretty dire places in developing countries of which I have been more then happy to be able to extract myself from at great speed. But the labelling of whole countries as such doesn't help anyone, it does quite the opposite to encouraging development and helping raise awareness of the problems going on in those countries.
Personally I would say that uneducated and illiterate people would likely agree with Trump on the matter. | | | | | Naaa, the entire country is a shithole (apparently Trump referred to Haiti as an example), only rivaled by North East London.

At least you're not contesting that these countries are indeed shitholes, like baboon. | | | | | I didn't say anything one way or the other. Only commented on the racist knee-jerk reaction.
I haven't personally been to the countries specifically mentioned, neither I expect have you. We don't know. I do have a good friend from El Salvador who would certainly dispute that description.

As I'm not on twitter, I totally rely on you folks. | | | | | He'll probably compliment Switzerland on the wonderful Leerdammer cheese.
I'm not on twitter either, but that doesn't prevent you from looking at other people's ramblings. | Quote: | | | | | And he has called a few developing countries sh**holes. | | | | | Saw this on facebook last night. All my American friends and former colleagues (from right across the political spectrum) were outraged at his comments. I've never seen them more unified on anything other than remembering 9/11.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | Perhaps he cancelled because London has become another shit hole? | | | | | Bullshit. Cressida Dick has recently said that the rise in knife crime in London needs to be addressed with a public health strategy, and before you criticise the idea, Scotland took this approach and there were no knife crime deaths in Glasgow in 2017. Zero!!! When you have a sea change of such magnitude, it has to be seriously looked into. https://twitter.com/i/web/status/949916699855290379 | Quote: | | | | | The man knows his stuff when it comes to premium locations and the previous Grosvenor Sq, Mayfair address is as good as it gets. | | | | | Real estate vs security though?
Totally agree that the old location and building is iconic, but utterly impossible to properly secure in today's climate. I mean...Litvinenko was poisoned in the Pine Bar of the Millennium Mayfair, which as you'll know, is at right angles to the US Embassy building. Do you think the choice of that location was an accident?
When I stayed at the Millennium Mayfair with work, I used to love grabbing a coffee and sitting on a bench in Grosvenor Square before breakfast. A few weeks later, a repeat of an episode of 'Spooks' showed an agent sitting on the same bench with a dirty bomb. The place was too damned vulnerable.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | Yes I noted at the end of the link to the .gov country profile it said don't go here it's a shithole, go to Thailand instead, as it's full of likeminded brits on the piss unaware of the poverty and slums that have been hidden. I assume the description for the good ole US of A points out that it's inadvisable to visit certain parts lest you get shot by police or accosted by Trump supporters for being foreign! But we tend to take foreign office advice with a pinch of salt these days, now that BoJo is in charge! He still believes the Colonies still exist.

Come on, use your imagination. | | | | | You are confusing political situations and persecution with poverty and war, there are a multitude of reasons. Anyway it's to do with the terminology that's being used, and shithole is not a term a head of state should use to publicly describe another sovereign state. But by all means Loz say it as you mean it. No hiding your infantile thoughts.

The US needs to move to a legal merit-based immigration system ASAP so we can provide a proper way for people coming in. The broken immigration system was a sort of scam that allowed underemployment, and really oppressed and enslaved people into cheap labor. A legal system would be good for everybody, and should lift wages for everybody to a more proper level.
Few truly care about real injustice, they need to have it around to give them something to howl and feel righteous about.
There is a lot more sensibility and level headedness in Trump's position than in the Chorus of this Trump Operetta stanza.
Dad wins this one as well. | This user groans at for this post: | |
