US system consists of filling them with opioid drugs and sending them out of the door; you really want that?

I like the Swiss system, or the German system, or the Dutch system. I’m no particular fan of the US system but for me it would be preferable to the NHS.

Who knew? Oh, all but the most deluded of us, that's right.

It's fake news though, top uni study done by EXPERTS!
tch, Oxford 'university' lookit them with all their fancy book larnin.

Missing the stats there, I read another article about that study that quoted the dear leaders support groups accounting for 55% of fake news on twitter. Not that the Democrats get off scott free, they account for 1%, in dear leader speak that equates to fake news on 'both sides'.

Honestly is it a surprise? the education level of the trump supporters I've encountered leads them to believe any old shit if it means they don't have to leave their echo chamber.

This is a big part of the problem we have at the moment. They (not saying you, but a large swathe of people) trust their personal experience over large bodies of evidence.

So, perhaps you've clicked on too much right-wing clickbait on FB and so you get more of it, or the inverse with left-wing nonsense, but as mentioned before, whilst that may fire your personal prejudices you SHOULDN'T be using it to form valid opinions.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Seems like Trump does not plan to take diplomatic advantage of the small thaw in diplomatic relations by N. Korea attending the Olympics, instead he seems to be intent on provoking them?

Pence arrived in Tokyo Tuesday night on his way to South Korea, where he'll lead the US delegation at the Opening Ceremony of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Pence warns US to impose 'toughest ever' sanctions on North Korea.

En route Pence told reporters that the purpose of his trip was to "make sure that North Korea doesn't use the powerful symbolism and the backdrop of the Winter Olympics to paper over the truth about their regime."

The US delegation includes Fred Warmbier, the father of Otto, the American student who died shortly after being released from North Korean captivity last year.

State Department are strangely quiet on this topic!

When the united Korean team play, maybe Pence could pull his favorite trick of walking out of sports events to show his master's displeasure. Turning up just to spoil the party seems to be par for the course.

To be honest, kneeling on ice when dressed in ice hockey gear can't be easy...

I suppose Trump will need to ask them for permission to hold the parade? Or how does that work in the US?

According to Trump it was a mistake by the Stock Market

In the “old days,” when good news was reported, the Stock Market would go up. Today, when good news is reported, the Stock Market goes down. Big mistake, and we have so much good (great) news about the economy!

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

How a little-known investment might have made the market plunge worse!

Several risky funds that reward investors when the markets are quiet imploded in the global market rout. The most popular inverse volatility fund is the VelocityShares Daily Inverse VIX Short-term ETN (XIV), also known as the XIV. It lost almost 100% of its value after the market closed on Monday.

Credit Suisse, which runs the fund, announced it would close it later this month, 12 years ahead of schedule.

Source

Rumours are circulating that the Swiss market regulator FINMA is interested in talking to Credit Suisse about this fund
Probably untrue.

Edit: Seems FINMA really are talking to Credit Suisse about this topic; look here (German language)!

XIV is not a fund, it's a note, credit provided to Credit Suisse. Contrary to holders of a fund, the note holders may lose all their money if Credit Suisse goes bankrupt.

The peculiar thing is, if memory serves, the ETN prospectus says that the ETN will be closed if its value drops 75% in a single day. Which begs the question if CS was holding investors hostage for its own protection. I realise this happened outside of regular trading hours so it must have been difficult for CS to cover the underlying shorts, but still.
