Real Politik

Quote:
The US has dropped charges against 11 of the 15 bodyguards for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who were indicted after a brawl with protesters outside the country's embassy in Washington last May, a spokesperson for the US Attorney in DC told CNN on Thursday.

The bloody brawl outside the Turkish ambassador's residence sent nine to the hospital and video footage emerged of Erdogan looking on as his security officials beat up protesters.

Dow dropped 500 points at one time today, now recovered slightly.

Wild day and not yet over; Dow could go in any direction - currently over 2,000 points below this years high point.
Trump announced his new plan for China tariffs and crashed the stock market again!
The Dow fell over 700 points (the fifth largest drop ever) is now under 24,000 and almost 3,000 points below this years high point. Year to date it is down 3%.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

President Donald Trump just announced he would replace national security adviser H.R. McMaster with John Bolton.
John Bolton is the former ambassador to the United Nations in the Bush administration — and one of the most radically hawkish voices in American foreign policy.

It was once alleged he invented the Iraq WMD story.

Chief of staff John Kelly briefed White House staff last Friday to reassure them that there will be no more dismissals at this time. Now Trump's lawyer and McMaster are both gone this week.

Edit; Darn that Blueangel is quick!

Edit2; Bolton has previously said the United States should declare war on both North Korea and Iran.

Edit3, It was forecast McMaster would return to the military with an extra star as a 4 star general but it was announced today he is retiring; another victim!

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

"McMaster learned of his ouster after being invited to a hastily convened meeting in the Roosevelt room, on his arrival he found the other participants seated and one seatless place at the table. Upon asking where his seat was the president replied in a mocking tone 'Don't you have no seat Herbie? guess that means you're outta here'

No, I made that up, but how easy was it to believe?

Btw, I just found out that the first year of Donnies reign in the Chinese calendar was the Year of the Cock, how appropriate.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

It was widely believed that the GOP would tame Trump and make him presidential.
Actually the reverse has occurred and Trump has taken over the GOP and remoulded it.

The party of fiscal prudence has now added around $2.4 trillion to the national debt over the next decade by approving tax cuts and the budget deal, according to a study by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget released earlier this month.

Adding an air of farce to the whole affair, practically nobody who voted for these two bills had actually read through them so had little idea of what they were really voting for.

Source

As I posted before the legislation includes $1.6 billion for Trump’s U.S.-Mexico border wall that includes 33 miles of new border fencing –– not a concrete wall so not based on the "white elephant" prototypes that Trump recently inspected –– that was already authorized through the 2006 Secure Fence Act. And negotiators also worked out a deal on $541 Million funding for the Gateway project, a rail and tunnel initiative connecting New York and New Jersey.
It is very unlikely there will be any more funding approved for the wall before the next budget Bill next year.

GOP Sen. John Kennedy (La.) comment on the fact that they were given insufficient time to read the 2,322 page budget bill "This is a Great Dane-sized whiz down the leg of every taxpayer"

Senator Paul Rand attempted to read all of the Budget bill before voting but gave up after 600 pages, full story here.

There's a reason Oliver North (see Iran Contra scandal) is NRA board member today. In some cases and to a certain kind of people, breaking the law is proof positive for their virtuousness.

I am considering a VETO of the Omnibus Spending Bill based on the fact that the 800,000 plus DACA recipients have been totally abandoned by the Democrats (not even mentioned in Bill) and the BORDER WALL, which is desperately needed for our National Defense, is not fully funded.
What a chaotic clown!

It was actually Trump who created the current DACA problem

Trump Threatens Joe Biden, Saying He ‘Would Go Down Fast and Hard’ if They Fought

"President Trump threatened former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. on Thursday, saying in a tweet that Mr. Biden “would go down fast and hard” if the two men ever physically fought. Mr. Trump was responding to Mr. Biden’s comments on Tuesday about how, if he was in high school, Mr. Biden would “beat the hell” out of Mr. Trump for disrespecting women."

Trump (71) versus Biden (75) ...

I doubt a fight between two draft dodgers would be much of an event,

Meanwhile it is reported Trump did sign the spending bill despite his rhetoric he would veto it.

This is Round 2 of the WWE (Wizened, Wrinkly Elders) bout. Biden made more comments about his disgust for Trump and his genital-handling proclivities, to which the Marmalade Messiah responded with typically presidential decorum. No doubt it'll all be repeated in a few weeks, once these events have leached from the combatants' Alzheimer's-riddled brains.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Still Friday....

Quote:
Joseph diGenova's role as part of President Donald Trump's legal team is still in question.
DiGenova's hiring was announced on Monday to join Trump's legal team just days before Trump legal team leader John Dowd resigned on Thursday. DiGenova has been considered a possible front-runner to replace Dowd.

Concerns have arisen about potential conflicts of interest for both diGenova and his wife and law partner, Victoria Toensing, who was also under consideration to join the team.
One source said no one had officially been hired.

The potential conflicts were flagged to Trump's legal team by Dowd before he resigned
Meanwhile President Trump on Friday asked Congress to provide him with a line-item veto on spending bills, as he signed a $1.3 trillion omnibus spending package that includes provisions he doesn't like.

The Supreme Court in 1998 ruled that legislation giving then-President Clinton a line-item veto for tax and spending provisions was unconstitutional.

Source

The comedy circus continues...

It is claimed many top Washington lawyers have declined the opportunity to join Trump's team

Dow dropped over 400 points Friday, now down over 3,000 points and over 11% down from its high point this year. 5% down from the start of this year.
It is also two months since Trump last tweeted about how great the market was doing due to his influence.

Trump has demonstrated a President can influence the Stock Market but not in the direction he wants. Inflation driving tax cuts, omnibus spending Bill and tariff announcements have spooked the markets.

If Trump can avoid a trade war and the tax cuts do drive economy growth then the markets should pick up again.
