There will be big news coming soon for our great American Autoworkers. After many decades of losing your jobs to other countries, you have waited long enough!
General assumption is he was talking about China cutting import tariffs on autos from 25% to 15% that was already announced yesterday; Trump was complaining about this tariff months ago.

Likely this will not do much for the US; GM and Ford already build very many cars in China so little increase in exports likely from these companies.

The tariff reduction was for all countries; shares of BMW AG and Tata Motors Ltd., owner of Jaguar Land Rover, rose after China’s announcement.
Porsche and Toyota are also expected to benefit.
Tesla cut prices in China today but they only have 3% of the China electric vehicle market so a small player. Anyway their factory is in California so not a traditional site for American Autoworkers!

General assumption was wrong.

"President Donald Trump has ordered a national security probe into vehicle imports, which could bring new tariffs.

Mr Trump said the US car industry was "critical to our strength as a nation" and ordered the Department of Commerce to investigate.

The probe rests on 1960s legislation which lets the president restrict imports if they threaten national security.

It is the latest move in Mr Trump's America First trade agenda.

The president tweeted earlier on Wednesday about "big news" for the country's autoworkers."

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44234245

And he's got to unblock the accounts he's blocked on Twitter as well.

"US President Donald Trump may not "block" Twitter users from viewing his online profile due to their political beliefs, a judge in New York has ruled.

District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald in Manhattan said that blocking access to his @realDonaldTrump account would be a violation of the right to free speech.

The lawsuit against Mr Trump and other White House officials stems from his decision to bar several online critics.

The White House has yet to comment on the judge's ruling.

The case was brought by The Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University on behalf of seven Twitter users who had been blocked by Mr Trump for criticising him or mocking him online."

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

President Trump on Thursday canceled his nuclear summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, citing Kim’s “tremendous anger and open hostility” toward the United States.

Source

Typical Trump, maybe the meeting will be on again in an hour or maybe it was never a reality?

Glad I did not move my wine out of our bomb shelter; maybe should add some more bottles?

<<Just hours before Trump’s announcement, Kim made good on his promise to demolish a nuclear test site, a goodwill move ahead of the talks.

The U.S. also secured another concession from North Korea earlier this month when it released three American detainees.>>
Trump might think he pulled a smart stunt but this is not how things work.

Don't bother moving those bottles around. Drink them up!

LOL.
Thanks but I even got rid of the "Gold Vreneli" because stuff lying around annoys me. And they were worth a dinner out at least.

Trump will probably buy them all?

The White House has cut the price to $59 from $85 here

Edit: If Summit Does Not Occur You can Request a Refund but Most Supporters Have Said They Want This Heirloom of
Political History Regardless of Outcome.

Note: Typical Trump use of capitals with no apparent logical structure; some verbs have capitals but not all

$59 for a souvenir of something that never happened?
A tin of Swiss mountain air is more genuine than that!

Interesting concept though: If you back-up fake news with a souvenir, officially released by a governement ...... does the fake become reality then? And when? After 50 - 100 - 500 years?

Probably not, I was sorting through some old stuff and found an original Charles/Diane wedding commemorative coin with gold finish; probably worth CHF 5,00 plus/minus.

NFL didn't hold formal vote before passing anthem policy

Source

There is no US law requiring civilians to stand for the US anthem.

Currently the only civilians who can be fined for not standing are NFL players!

If Spanky thinks to stand for the US anthem is such a great idea for civilians then why does he not bring in an appropriate law?

If it has a value denomination on it, it is worth at least that as even if nobody else wants to buy it, that's what the bank will take it for.

Commemorative coins without any nominal value are for the most part just bric-a-brac.

Most vehicle imports into the US come from the NAFTA partners.

Consequently it is hard to understand how any proposal for new tariffs could smoothly mesh in with the current NAFTA renegotiations?

One of Trumps major strengths is claimed to be his ability to make deals, however here we are nearly one and a half years into his Presidency; which new deals can we point to?

Written in Trumpesque style is the only humorous thing about it, diplomacy or eloquence is not strong in this one.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Let's say I invited somebody. This somebody writes me a letter they will not appear. What sense does a sentence like <<If you change your mind having to do with this most important summit, please do not hesitate to call me or write.>> make?
I didn't cancel. In what respect am I supposed to change my mind?

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

President Trump said his campaign of “maximum pressure” would continue, involving the “strongest sanctions ever imposed”.
However, in the wake of Trump’s withdrawal from this summit, soon after abrogating a nuclear deal with Iran that had global support, there are now serious doubts over his ability to galvanise international support for increased sanctions, or even enforce the existing sanctions regime.

So Kim Jong-un (allegedly) destroyed their "North Korea’s only known nuclear test site" in front of journalists and (factually) let American detainee free.
How exactly are the "strongest sanctions ever imposed" appropriate right at this moment?
