House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Thursday condemned President Trump's decision to impose a new set of steel and aluminum tariffs against close trading allies.
"Instead of addressing the real problems in the international trade of these products, today's action targets America's allies when we should be working with them," he said. Source
Nice to see somebody from the Republican Trump party standing up to Trump.
Meanwhile Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) suggested on Thursday that President Trump may be seeking to send a message to witnesses in the investigation into possible collusion between his campaign and Russia by issuing a flurry of pardons.
"The possibility that he may also be sending a message to witnesses in a criminal investigation into his campaign is extremely dangerous. In the United States of America, no one is above the law." Source |

Meanwhile U.S. officials working to plan President Trump’s summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore have reportedly run into a logistical problem — who will pay for Kim's hotel?
The Washington Post reported Friday that the cash-strapped state requires a foreign country to cover the cost of their preferred accommodations.
Kim is really pushing the boundaries!!

It is strange what has become normal in Trump's world.
Trump's first lady has been out of sight for almost a month and it is like "so what".
Meanwhile the N. Korea summit is on, off, on
Trump has decided to levy heavy tariffs on "national security" grounds on the major US allies.
Major GOP donors like the Koch brothers are paying millions to support Democrat candidates. | Quote: | | | | Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump
Real @FoxNews is doing great, Fake News CNN is dead! | | | | | President Trump declined to officially recognize June as LGBTQ Pride Month, marking the second year in a row that he has done so.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo did issue a statement recognizing “LGBTI Pride Month,” similar to former Secretary Rex Tillerson’s statement in 2017

To be fair, if the FLOTUS doesn't feel like she's in a state (mental or physical) to pose for the cameras, I don't blame her for not doing so.
I think she was even less prepared for this life than him. And that says a lot.
It's one thing to be the 3rd wife of TV-show celebrity slash real estate billionaire - but it's a completely different thing being in the spotlight 24x7 and having to do public appearances on a schedule mostly mandated by "the office".
That, and the various revelations about her husband have probably taken their toll on their mind.

It's quite hypocritical to wonder why isn't she in the spotlight anymore. I don't think she's not prepared to pose daily, as you put it, I think she was never prepared to deal with that much hostility. Under different circumstances, she could have been perfectly suited, it doesn't take exceptional skills.
Btw, what do you remember about say, Laura Bush? Nothing. I think she too was under-"utilised" during her husband's mandate(s).

"I am doing well" post-op tweet and media (and folks here) going into why and how she wasn't prepared for flotus or how potus's home is falling apart (linked text) or tweets certainly not being hers. Do we now appreciate potus writing his clumsy tweets by himself, by any chance? Hypocrisy indeed, gm. It just shows how much hate there is. Good for her laying low after a kidney op, a sensible thing to do. Barbara had nowhere near the charm the current flotus is showering the US/world with, the friction around flotus is logical, regarding what crap potus has to deal with | Quote: | | | | | Given that he is a conservative president, is this really surprising? | | | | | I wonder if conservatism would be the correct label to use for this..

Drip, drip, drip! | Quote: | | | | In a confidential letter to special counsel Robert Mueller in January, President Donald Trump's legal team acknowledged for the first time that Trump "dictated" the first misleading statement put out about his son's controversial 2016 meeting with Russians at Trump Tower. | | | | | Source
Slowly the truth emerges, more revelations to come?
According to the article it is possible Trump Jr. lied under oath to a Senate Judiciary committee about this first statement.

Just before the elder George Bush left the White House in January 1993, 85% of Americans had a favorable opinion of Barbara Bush, significantly better than the 76% rating for Laura Bush. Source
During Barbara Bush's time as first lady, an average of 83% of Americans viewed her favorably, and she was named "most admired woman" twice. Source
I could not find any recent polls for Melania, the latest one had her popularity at 54%
In a December 2017 poll for "Most Admired Woman" Hillary Clinton was number one and Michelle Obama number 2, Melania came in at number 8 behind Condoleezza Rice. Source |

For those who ask why we are discussing Trump in Switzerland; I just had to pay over CHF 1.70 /liter for petrol today, most of the increase due to Trump cancelling the Iran deal.
Soon we will benefit from more higher prices due to Trump's tariffs | This user would like to thank marton for this useful post: | |
