Wonder, if this damages Harley even more, when some people start to postpone a purchase or buy 'not Harleys', because they don't want to bear the Trump stigma.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Hmmm, so will President Donald Trump's longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen, cooperate with the Feds?

Quote:
President Donald Trump's longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen, is putting his loyalty to "family and country" before his old boss.

"My wife, my daughter and my son have my first loyalty and always will," Cohen told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos in an interview published Monday morning. "I put family and country first."

Cohen also refused to follow Trump's lead to cast the FBI in a negative light over April's raids on his home, hotel room and office.

"I don't agree with those who demonize or vilify the FBI. I respect the FBI as an institution, as well as their agents,

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

a) I've never bought a Harley.

b) Most Harley owners that I know personally are women.

c) Most Harleys that I've ridden were owned by women, and I've never ridden a Harley owned by an American.

d) Harleys are appallingly dreadful bikes that wouldn't be produced today if it weren't for the intervention of the US government a few years ago to rescue them from bankruptcy. Who'd want to own one?

e) for those Europeans who DO want to buy a Harley I am not too sure how many of them would want to buy a non-USA produced motorcycle.

Harely's other facilities are in Australia, Brazil, India and Thailand. Does do really evoke the "made in USA - route 66" dream that some people are buying.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Harleys are junk. Overpriced, outdated tech and design that sells purely on image and nostalgia. I'd be surprised if they'll even be around in another 20 years - maybe selling Harley t shirts as a 'lifestyle brand'

Has Switzerland imposed an import duty on Harlys? Or any of the other things the EU have tarriffed?

They'll have to, otherwise "quality-conscious" Swiss shoppers will flock over the border in search of the highest-priced items!

Not sure but I doubt it. However, depending on the USA company and their logistics/distribution system, they sometimes group CH with EU so motorcycles for CH might get switched even though we have nothing to do with the issue.

Good question.
Can't see why we should as long as Trump doesn't remember we're a country too.

I see a business-option here

Ah those Trump voting hippies.

Seems likely the Law of Unintended Consequences will apply to Trump's ideas on auto tariffs!

Quote:
All new cars sold in the United States will cost more — to build and probably to buy — if the Trump administration imposes an auto tariff.

Every car assembled in the United States contains a significant percentage of foreign parts, according to government data. The two most "American" cars are both Hondas — the Odyssey minivan and Ridgeline pickup. Three-quarters of each vehicle's components are made in the United States or Canada.

The highest-ranked car made by a Detroit automaker is the Chevrolet Corvette, About two-thirds of its parts and manufacturing are from the United States or Canada.

American auto parts makers don't have capacity to build all the parts domestically that are currently imported. So the automakers will probably pay the tariffs and pass along much of the extra cost.
Source

More expensive cars could mean fewer sales — a drop of 1 million to 2 million vehicles, according to the American Automotive Policy Council. That means US auto plants would probably produce fewer cars and cut jobs.

Unorthodox way of reducing CO2-emissions.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Here's a follow-up on the 3rd Playboy bunny (Shera Berchard) who Trump is thought to have "slept with", which mysteriously led to an abortion being required.
- This case is a bit tortuous, as she was paid $1.6m (in 8 monthly installments) to shut up (NDA) by billionaire GOP donor Elliot Broidy.
- The idea is that this payment was a quid pro quo (=bribe) to Trump.
- In exchange for paying up and taking the blame, Broidy got a couple of meetings with Trump so that he could lobby for the U.A.E.'s interests and against those of Quatar.
- Subsequently, Broidy got $600m in defense sales as a reward from the U.A.E.

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer...-cover-up.html

Now Broidy has reneged on the contract after three payments, so our bunnygirl is free to sell her story to the highest bidder. Should make interesting reading. The question is: Why would he do that?

His supposed reasons do not stand up to close examination, see the article.

The article argues that by stopping now, he is reducing his criminal liability, so when the sh*t hits the fan, as seems inevitable now, he will not get such a bad hit as if he lets the contract run.

Well, that's a long and complicated story. Probably only me and marton will enjoy it

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

@FrankZappa

the president’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen is on the cusp of cooperating with prosecutors, he will know about Berchard

Edit; actually knowing Cohen is probably facing charges and will likely cooperate with the feds might have had some influence on Brady ceasing payments

Putin must be very happy with his protege.
Trump has driven rifts between the US and their closest allies and
  • is taking a Russian oil competitor Iran out of the market
  • is close to throwing a major spanner into global trade
  • lowering the tone on the Crimea takeover
  • ignoring Russian election meddling
  • calling for Russia to rejoin the G7
and now destabilising NATO and threatening to lower the US global military presence!

Is staggering isn't it? he's not even pretending not to be Putins lapdog anymore, Nato summit, then off to meet the boss and get his tummy tickled.

Thank goodness we have the republican party to provide a stabilising influence.
