And if the EU is so great, why Brexit?

Being able to vote against the EU (and the UN) were major motivations for me to become Swiss.
I'm sure you appreciate some parts of it like no passport controls at the border for your frequent Italian sojourns.

They are apparently starting again, though, Austria is innitiating this. CH won't be taking long to do them as well, I think.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Does anyone else think that Spanky's retreat from the paraglider protester was a bit... leisurely?

Given the level of attention the secret service normally provides I'm surprised that he wasn't surrounded by a ring of agents while he was leaving the space.

Either they knew about it far in advance, and that the protester wasn't armed, or they're not bothered if Spanky gets whacked (which I really have trouble believing).

It was in Scotland so they couldn’t unload a clip into the Greenpeace paraglider like they would have back home. I guess the Greenpeace banner was also a sign that imminent death by tofu was not likely to occur. He shuffled as quick as he could though. And America is always looking for excuses to invade another country, perhaps the CIA were hoping for an assassination attempt to keep themselves in business.

Trump needs to hire Erdogan's security team.

Being on foreign territory doesn't seem to bother them at all.

I don’t believe being on foreign territory has ever bothered the yanks either. Maybe they really don’t care if the Prez gets whacked.

The largest newspaper in Finland is mocking President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin with a series of billboards calling the leaders out over their treatment of the press.

Kaius Niemi, editor-in-chief of Helsingin Sanomat, shared a press release on Twitter, along with photos of some of the nearly 300 billboards lining the route from the airport to the site of the summit between Trump and Putin.

“Mr. President, welcome to the land of free press,” one of the billboards reads.

Greenpeace notified the authorities once it was underway and somehow convinced the authorities they were legit and shouldn't be shot down. It buzzed Spanky then buzzed off with the fuzz in hot pursuit.

I sat here and applauded, well done those journos, and the US scored 45th place in the Reporters Without Borders World Press Freedom Index the "land of the free" line in the star spangled banner is looking pretty ironic. I can't be too smug though, the UK rated 40th, but 'not too smug' is still smug.

Didn't we have that open border thingy with Italy even before Switzerland joined the EU?

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

According to Trump's bosom pal CNN
Quote:
"It will be the most surreal US-Russia summit in history.

There are multiple reasons why it's good for the two Presidents to talk given critical national security issues including the war in Syria, North Korea, fraying arms control agreements and the desperate state of relations between two nuclear powers with the capacity to wipe out humanity.

Trump will sit down with the man accused of masterminding an audacious election meddling operation in order to put him into office, days after the indictment of Russian intelligence operatives by his own Justice Department.

It's not even clear that Trump will upbraid Putin over such a brazen assault on American sovereignty and democracy.

Putin got to watch this week as the President in the United States enacted the core goals of Putin's own foreign policy, carving deep divisions between the US and its NATO allies, insulting America's friends such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister Theresa May and deepening polarization in American politics with assaults on the Russia probe."

Yep, this is good! Not balloon babies floating in the air - and miles away from the aimed person.

Too subtle for Trump though, I guess

NOT NORMAL. NOT OK. UNPRECEDENTED. UNCONSCIONABLE.

You can take issue with editorial choices. But to use this language violates the essence of our Constitution.

Where is the cowardly GOP?
Agreed!

Want to know how absolutely unhinged things have become? In the past day, an American president has:

1. Called the media the "enemy of the people."

2. Called the European Union a "foe."

3. Attacked a former US president.

4. Congratulated Vladimir Putin.

The GOP is silent.
This is nuts, oh what a time to be alive!

Any Spanky fans want to try and justify Spankys meeting with his handler being private? with no official record, not even a top secret record.

Anything? no matter how bizarre, cos it sure looks like he has something to hide.

A deafening silence, not even the strident Spanky fans on here can spin an off-the-record chat with Putin into anything sensible.

Of all the enabling I've seen since he lost the popular vote, this one has to be the worst. I reckon Putin's going to play him a mix tape of Spanky Kompromat.

Agreed a number of things including reaffirming their commitment to the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), more details here.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Pro Trump rally dwarfs the demos against him but mainstream media was keeping mum about it.

Must be true; a Tommy Robinson fan said so and has the photographic proof!

Honest guv.
