Seems Jackie Evancho will sing at Trump's inauguration.
I have no clue who this is but no doubt she is a great star with a huge following
The Rockettes will also be there but apparently worried about being associated with the divisive President-elect, several members of the dance group balked at being forced to perform.
However, the organization said only those who were willing to perform would do so. |

Trump tweets today | Quote: | | | | The dishonest media likes saying that I am in Agreement with Julian Assange - wrong. I simply state what he states, it is for the people.... | | | | | | Quote: | | | | to make up their own minds as to the truth. The media lies to make it look like I am against "Intelligence" when in fact I am a big fan! | | | | | I feel very sorry for businesses and countries trying to create a Trump "compliance" strategy when they only have information from such tweets |

Trump tweet today | Quote: | | | | Toyota Motor said will build a new plant in Baja, Mexico, to build Corolla cars for U.S. NO WAY! Build plant in U.S. or pay big border tax. | | | | | So far as I understand under NAFTA Trump can introduce new border taxes with NAFTA countries.
If he cancels NAFTA then they have to use WTO border taxes or face WTO retribution?

it will be interesting at the very least.
seems to be getting some people more involved in their own governance, which can only be an improvement.

Seems like CH will also be getting a new American ambassador very soon. She will be packing her boxes over the next few days. "Donald Trump 'orders Barack Obama's ambassadors to resign their posts' in unprecented move"

| | | | | Every cloud has a silver lining.
I doubt many, regardless of political leaning, will miss AmbSuzi.
(But I shudder to think who the next appointee will be... Not that the post is of much relevance to US citizens in Switzerland, though, but that's another discussion. Which I think we have already had, ad nauseum.)

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | Wow. He really is on a roll to shake up the entire political arena in US. | | | | | Yes he is... but dismissing ambassadors is pretty much a non-story. And I say this as someone very worried about other pending shake-ups.
A US ambassador is a political, not professional, post. Every president appoints ambassadorships upon taking office, payment for favors rendered. The usual qualification is having been a big campaign contributor.
The point at which one should look carefully into the whys and wherefores is when there is a wholesale 'cleansing' of professional foreign service officers and staff.
But an ambassador? Unless you are a regular on the cocktail circuit yourself, really non-news.

I hope he appoints Ivanka.
Obama, who said he wanted a smooth transition, has been planting roadblocks to try to secure his legacy. It is better to clear it out and start with a clean slate.

But all on the same day and in every country where there is a political appointee when he hasn't even finished with his cabinet appointments and handovers? That means the bureaucrats in each embassy will be handling things for a little while.

The politicisation of Russian hacking allegations have put him at odds with some in the intelligence community. Soon we'll see who truly runs the US. From a management perspective, I can see why Trump might need to reign everyone in on day one to define the order of the day.

When she can have cushy digs in the white house? Nah. First wife Ivana wants her home country, or so I heard.
Honestly, I think Trump should have to work for the transition....let's see his leadership qualities, bring on the bumpy ride.

I think he knows how to wield carrots as well as sticks. It will be fun to watch.

That thing with the ethics committe this week wasn't him...it was all the flack from constituents. We will see.

I think the only people who believe this will be a fun 4/8 years are the ones living in cushty Europe who aren't directly affected, laughing at those back in the motherland who aren't as fortunate.
Sad.

Sad. | | | | | Interesting, maybe. At its best, an opportunity for renewed activism and involvement. Fun, only in a sadistic sort of way.
