I meant in general, happy bunny is quite.....cute. And no, it's not nice that someone called you like that.

I know that's what she's doing. She has a one-track agenda; there's a consistent theme, just have a look at her posting history.

Again, mods have opinions and we're free to express them.

Terryfisch not Loz...I hardly agree with her on anything but I can't see any serious reason for so much contempt. Whatever.

Have I not scrolled back enough and am I wrong that all this outburst stems back to 22 Yards commenting that the midterm results will make Loz "not a happy bunny"?

Or did I miss proper name-calling somewhere?
Yes, it was a small fairly civilised discussion about mods and whether they should be partial or not, and whether they should take the higher road or not when it comes to poking fun at other people. But it seems it's snowballing in a different direction now.

So much name calling. Looks like we can't talk politics without bursting into accusations and "surreptitiously" insulting other people. From where I stand I partially agree with terrifisch when she said that:
Quote:
No need to shut people down because they do not ascribe to your viewpoint. The purpose of a Forum is discussion... But this Forum does not seem like an open debate to me!
But that doesn't seem to be the case here. What I see when I read every single post in this thread is "mostly" a regular discussion. Of course counterarguments always try to somehow shut down the opposite argument. In my 12 years in EF I don't remember any case when moderators bullied or marginalized other people.

It'd be nice for a change when people don't get their panties in a knot over every other statement that they disagree with.

Win some, lose some.

Big wins in the senate and governors, lost control of the house.

In short, a toss-up.

Tom
So far with 46 Governor results, the Dems are up 6!

Yes, I agree. I've been online long enough to know what to expect from 4chan, what to expect in Reddit, and what to expect in Wikipedia Talk pages. I'm afraid that what I was referring to is very far from what I expect in EF. And I still prefer to complain about immature behaviour here when I see it.

I don't think that's what he's doing. He's just criticising the fact that you're instigating a pointless discussion (as he said "taking a pot shot") by needlessly poking another member...just for fun:

I agree with terrifisch: I find that to be rather disappointing behaviour for a mod, whose role includes moderating discussions and helping ensure a courteous and respectful behaviour in the forum.
Everybody has an opinion, I believe it is healthier if they quote it so we know where they are coming from instead of disguising it.
Also the significant risk that if you hedge in Mods with too many rules then they will simply stop doing the job!

But only 36 states had elections for governor!

And even if the Dems are up 6, they still only have 1/3 of the governors.

I just quoted the numbers from here
That shows 36 races but 46 results

No, I think they still show 36 results, but in a very confusing way (the numbers include non-races). If you click on "Full results map" it's a bit better (there's a legend in the map for the "not up for election" governors).

It depends on which states. Govenors have an impact in drawing congressional districts. Michigan, for example elected both a Democratic governor and outlawed gerrymandering. Delighted that walker lost in WI.

The actual number of Democratic govenors matters less than the structure of the congressional districts in specific states.

Over 100 women elected to the house, of varying ages, ethnicities and sexual orientation. Leadership of house committees will change. Am looking forward to seeing Maxine Waters lead the financial whatever committee. Should be entertaining if nothing else.

Some good, some bad results depending on your perspective. Not a blue wave necessarily, but certainly some change.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Before Trump it was 28 years since a Republican Presidential Candidate had won Wisconsin, Michigan or Pennsylvania.
So some people expected the Dems to do well in these States, there was indeed improvement. In Michigan and Wisconsin, Democrats are expected to flip attorney general and the secretary of state’s office.

Not quite, we have a family member (US citizen) who has been trying for two years now to get his wife to join him in America, now he, a senior medical doctor and pillar of the community fears he'll be forced to leave his home country to be able to live with his wife. I only have friends experiences to go on but my understanding was that pre-Spanky days bringing your spouse was easy?
I am no fan of Spanky, but I do not believe he’s screwed up immigration any more than already. If you are married, you may apply for a permanent resident visa for your spouse. Your spouse gets an immediate visa number, but still has to be investigated. The particulars of whether or not she can come really depend on her criminal history, if she has one, and whether or not she’s ever overstayed a visa in the past, probably other stuff I am forgetting. The easy part is that you get to be investigated without waiting. But you still go through all the bullshit. And it is a load of bullshit.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Isn’t the purpose of multiple moderators that moderators don’t moderate threads they are active in? Why on earth would you want to be a volunteer mod and deal with all the attendant crap if you can’t voice your own opinion just like the rest of us? I believe it is an unrealistic expectation.

I've started a whole new thread about moderators in which everyone can express their opinions and call people names to their hearts' content.

Have at it, ladies and gentlemen!
