Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Saturday night live sketch about Sessions leaving!

Including Robert de Niro as Mueller giving Sessions a leaving gift of a piece toilet paper from Trump's shoes.

And there was no contingency plan?

Ben Rhodes, who served as deputy national security adviser for strategic communications under President Barack Obama, said the excuse about the inclement weather did not stand up.

"I helped plan all of President Obama's trips for 8 years," he wrote on Twitter. "There is always a rain option. Always."

Its also a little embarrassing that the most technologically advanced nation on the planet don't appear to have a helicopter capable of flying in light rain with some low cloud. No wonder the USA always do so well in their 'conflicts'

if you're on twitter Tony Robinson (Baldrick from Blackadder) summed up trump nicely and far more eloquently then I can

I doubt it is the technology, more likely a very nervous passenger who also does not have the courage to walk with other world leaders but chooses to sit in his bomb proof car.

Usually when a US President visited such events then the other leaders queued up to meet them; this time there was only one official meeting (with Macron) reported.

Flying and landing in bad weather and low visibility is a notoriously dangerous task.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Regarding the motorcade that didn't happen, this bit puzzles me:

Quote:
"A car ride of two-and-a-half hours, each way, would have required closures to substantial portions of the Paris roadways for the President's motorcade, on short notice," said press secretary Sarah Sanders. "President Trump did not want to cause that kind of unexpected disruption to the city and its people."
2.5 hours to go roughly 50 miles?

The good news for any wannabe invaders is that if you attack the US whilst there's a mild drizzle on, they are defenseless.

Round of applause, I have to hand it to the WH Propaganda dept for that one, turning a crass act into a selfless one, thats worthy of Goebbels.

If only they had thought to use John Kelly's motorcade.

I think it is pretty realistic in Paris:

- traffic jams

- driving the wrong direction at least twice
- being help up by a strike
- Melanie wanting to stop for shopping
- toilet stop
