Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

I thought they were worried about the Democrats blocking the new NAFTA agreement
Quote:
Protections in the new North American trade pact for LGBTQ people are roiling conservative lawmakers in the House, who are urging President Donald Trump to rescind them.

They are displeased that the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement contains requirements that workers be protected from discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual orientation and gender identity.

“A trade agreement is no place for the adoption of social policy,” reads the letter, which carries the names of 40 lawmakers and was sent Friday.
Source

If the GOP successfully push the Trump administration into trying to renegotiate parts of the Agreement it will be chaotic. There is a new Mexican President from Dec. 1st. who likely will also want to make changes plus Trump will not want to see this "win" evaporate!

Ya gotta wonder, when people of the character of Wlliam McRaven are attacked by Spanky, is this really the sort of president you want to support?

Are the guys from industrial-military complex thought of as some saints in US instead as a bunch of criminals who can't go to any decent country because of fear of being charged with crimes against humanity?

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Rake America Great Again.

Quote:
Donald Trump’s weekend visit to fire-ravaged California has prompted a withering barrage of ridicule and anger after he suggested the state should copy Finland in raking forest floors to prevent a repeat of wildfires that have killed at least 76 people.

He claimed he had received the tip from the president of Finland, who promptly said he could not remember offering such advice.

“You gotta take care of the floors. You know the floors of the forest, very important,” said Mr Trump during his trip.

“I was with the president of Finland and he called it a forest nation, and they spend a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things and they don’t have any problem.”

But in an interview published in the Ilta-Sanomat newspaper, Sauli Niinisto said he told his American counterpart that the secret lay in an extensive monitoring system.
It'll be a shame when he's gone. He's just comedy gold.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

How offensive was THAT performance for those who survived the horror - just beyond insensitive and cruel.

Instead of talking about the terrible loss of lives, he used the 'opportunity' to take a punch at environmentalists . There is really something terribly wrong with him.

He's got 20/20 hindsight hasn't he?

Every disaster or incident he rolls out the "everybody saw this coming" or "I've been saying this for a long long time". No Donald, you haven't. You're a shameless opportunist who is full of shit.

Dunno, I was talking about McRaven, he seems a respectable sort of chap, but if you have any info about him being the subject of an investigation I'd be interested in reading it.

How weird is that?!

Well, the US can take the fenses down. After all, the Mexicans wouldn't do something to an other country that they don't want to happen in their's.
Would they?

The sentiment of some people in Mexico is not necessarily an indicator of opinion in Mexico as a whole.

Remember this is the same Mexico that just recently elected Obrador to the office of president.

But it's an interesting twist nevertheless.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

400 people, (almost half reporters) out of 1.3 million tijuanenses. we get more people when we win a silly concacaf soccer game and they make double the mess that the hondureans are doing on their way there.

I don't see the "growing protest", I do expect this kind of thing to happen as people have very short memories regarding Cartolandia or the small settlements we had on the old fence during the 90's.

main gripe from protesters have come from videos on internet where migrants complain about food , etc. but no major crime rise has been reported on Tijuana (not that it says much, cause Tijuana ) .

the xenophobia shown on our migrant town is disappointing but not unexpected. I am sure we'll rise to our better selves.

Peaceful demonstration, nobody got driven over.

More peaceful than this one!

Why does anyone have to be ‘tolerant’?

Stamping down and discouraging protests and demos is a dangerous path to go down.

There are a few too many places round the world like that.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Quote:
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke blamed “environmental radicals” for the California wildfires that have killed at least 77 people, saying they stop forest management practices that could have prevented the fires.

“I will lay this on the foot of those environmental radicals that have prevented us from managing the forests for years. And you know what? This is on them,” Zinke said.

“We have dead and dying timber. We can manage it using best science, best practices,” he continued. “But to let this devastation go on year after year after year is unacceptable, it’s not going to happen. The president is absolutely engaged.”
Source

More comedy! The United States Forest Service (USFS) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture not the Department of the Interior so Zinke has no clue!

The stock market was doing well in Trump's first year but now?
It will probably shoot up again

Dunno what it is like in your home country (as I don't know where it is!), but in Britain, the right to protest is enshrined in law.
