| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | Chief Justice John Roberts [US Supreme Court] on Wednesday pushed back on President Trump's criticism of a federal judge who ruled against his administration's asylum policy this week as "an Obama judge."
Roberts said in a rare statement reported by The Associated Press that the U.S. doesn't have "Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges.”
Roberts added that an "independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for." | | | | | Source
Trump believes he has bought the Supreme Court with his last two appointments; maybe he will have a shock?

"Most similar to Obama, least similar to Trump".
BUT: I answered the questions from a point of Swiss politics
Probably would have turned out differently from an other country's point of view. |

Sorry Chief Justice John Roberts, but you do indeed have “Obama judges,” and they have a much different point of view than the people who are charged with the safety of our country.
It would be great if the 9th Circuit was indeed an “independent judiciary,” but if it is why are so many opposing view (on Border and Safety) cases filed there, and why are a vast number of those cases overturned.
Please study the numbers, they are shocking.
We need protection and security - these rulings are making our country unsafe! Very dangerous and unwise!
November 21, 2018 | | | | | He really must be nuts!
He gets his statistics from Hannity of Fox News and they are, of course, wrong.
To give you an idea of the numbers in the year to March, 31, 2015 the 9th Circuit heard ca. 12,000 cases. The Supreme Court selected just 11 cases from the 9th Circuit in 2015, reversing eight; so not such a vast number!
The 9th Circuit never had the highest reversal rate in any individual term between 2004-15. Anyway the numbers heard by the Supreme Court are such a tiny, tiny part of the annual 9th Court case load (0.01%) that no conclusion can be drawn about the reversal rate. Full analysis here.
You also have to remember the Supreme Court only select cases to hear where there is a strong chance of reversal; they are not a rubber stamp!

Attorney Michael Avenatti (Stormy's lawyer) was arrested on a felony domestic violence charge last week after his girlfriend told police he abused her at his Los Angeles apartment following an argument.
The Los Angeles district attorney declined to prosecute Avenatti on felony domestic abuse charges on Wednesday. Source
No details given of why there are now no charges.
Seems case is still under investigation as a minor misdemeanour?

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | Doing it in an embassy - a safehouse for your citizens in foreign lands - is absolute scumbaggery. | | | | | But Kashoggi didn't feel safe enough to return home. Because he felt threatened by his own state. How can there be a safehouse that is instated by the very same state?
IMHO the outrage is caused by the the fact that this was dragged into broad daylight and, by that, the murder was effectivly comitted in broad daylight.
Stupid Saudis, should have murdered the guy clandestinely as is the custom. "Schwamm drüber" (water under the bridge is close but doesn't really cut it because a [wet] sponge also erases [a blackboard]). | Quote: | | | | | Source?
And in US embassies?
Tom | | | | | Are you really intending to allude that Kashoggi was murdered in a US embassy?
Feel free to google the murder of Anwar Al-Awlaki and two of his sons, all three US citizens.

You wrote "The US kill their own citizens abroad", as though it were some sort of routine occurrence, to excuse the murder by Saudis of a Saudi in a Saudi consulate.
Tom countered by questioning your claim, especially in the corollary situation: murder by Americans of an American in a US embassy (abroad, obviously). No suggestion whatsoever that Khashoggi was killed in a US embassy.
