The promise | Quote: | | | | "We are putting our great coal miners back to work," Trump repeated to rally crowds waving "Trump Digs Coal" signs. Chuck and Nancy's rebuttal of Trump's Border Wall Fence speech on Tuesday out-rated Trump's speech itself.
Ouch. That must sting.

2000 coal mine jobs have been added during Trump's rule. As consumption has declined 4% in this period, that gives a 50% * increase in jobs. * using populistic mathematical principles | The following 2 users would like to thank k_and_e for this useful post: | |

V.P. Mike Pence and group had a productive meeting with the Schumer/Pelosi representatives today. Many details of Border Security were discussed.
We are now planning a Steel Barrier rather than concrete.
It is both stronger & less obtrusive. Good solution, and made in the U.S.A. | | | | | Result of Border Patrol testing of prototype barriers using "common household tools" like a saw! |

The thing with fences keeping others out is they keep you in.
So one day something horrible happens and the only way out would (have) be(en) direction Mexico will be ...... an other day of thoughts and whishes.

Trump wants to make sure, he gets only the smartest and the strongest. | | | | | It's so weird. He actually sounded authoritative and collected back then. Who taught him to shriek like a scalded toddler at the podium when he was campaigning?

I reckon there will soon be a surfeit of pitchers and outfielders who have been training their arms lobbing stuff over the wall, if passing it through the slats doesn't work.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | Carmaker Ford has announced plans for a major shake-up of its operations in the UK and mainland Europe.
It is expected to lead to thousands of job losses across Europe, including the UK, although cuts at its UK factories are not thought to be imminent. | | | | | Source
Same problems exist in the US but after the Trump reaction to the GM announcement presumably Ford are delaying announcing any US job losses.
Ford already announced plans to eliminate some of the company’s most well-known cars including the Fiesta subcompact, Fusion midsize sedan, Taurus large sedan and the C-Max van. So it will be a miracle if Ford can avoid US job losses.

Interesting to see how media outlets are choosing headlines with respect to Trump attending Davos or not. Even Trump's words are contradictory.
Some outlets are saying Trump "cancelled" his plans to attend Davos, while others are saying he "won't go if the shutdown continues".
A few examples:
Trump 'won't go' to Davos if shutdown continues – POLITICO Eu
Trump cancels Davos trip over government shutdown - POLITICO USA
Trump Says He Won't Go to Davos If U.S. Government Is ... - Bloomberg
Trump cancels planned trip to Davos - SWI swissinfo.ch
Citing wall fight, Trump scraps Davos trip - NBC News
Trump will cancel planned Davos trip if shutdown continues - Reuters
The tweet:
“Because of the Democrats intransigence on Border Security and the great importance of Safety for our Nation, I am respectfully cancelling my very important trip to Davos, Switzerland,”
What he said to reporters:
"I intended to go and speak in front of the international community in Davos. That's still on, but if the shutdown continues — it's a little while from now — but if the shutdown continues, I won't go,"
In any case, it will still cost the U.S. a fortune in airfares, hotels, attendance fees, and security. According to Bloomberg, "The U.S. delegation to the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Switzerland is to include Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and U.S. Trade Secretary Robert Lighthizer, among other top administration officials."
Such responsible spending. |
