Yup, and thanks to Spanky he can say he didn't start it. Like an old school ground fight.
As I understand it, Russia wasn't complying with the treaty so the appropriate response would have been sanctions to compell compliance. What Spanky did instead was effectively saying 'oh well, no treaty then' an amazing gift to his handler. So far Spanky's policies to Russia are like ticking off Putins shopping list, it's almost like he is deliberately trying to promote Russias interests over the U.S.

Surely not...

And now
Quote:
At a televised meeting with his foreign and defense ministers, Putin ordered his military to begin developing new ground-launched hypersonic missiles with an intermediate range, and to also begin converting previously sea-based cruise missiles for ground launch -- the deployment of which was banned under the treaty.

General Jim Mattis will be retiring, with distinction, at the end of February, after having served my Administration as Secretary of Defense for the past two years.
During Jim’s tenure, tremendous progress has been made, especially with respect to the purchase of new fighting equipment.
General Mattis was a great help to me in getting allies and other countries to pay their share of military obligations.
A new Secretary of Defense will be named shortly.
I greatly thank Jim for his service!

11:21 PM - 20 Dec 2018
Appointing a new Secretary of Defense seems to have been forgotten about! Mattis was pushed out at the end of December.

Still who needs a Secretary of Defense when you have a genius for a President;or maybe Putin simply prefers Defense to have no permanent leader?

The reproaches are reciprocal. The US violated the INF treaty be deploying anti-missile missile launchers to Europe as they can be used to launch cruise missiles.

Trump's much heralded unity theme in his State of the Union address turned out to be a demand for the Dems to stand in line behind him!

Meanwhile House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff announced Wednesday a broad investigation his committee would undertake "beyond Russia" into whether President Donald Trump's financial interests are driving his actions.

The Acting SoD was the Deputy SoD before Mattis was pushed out. He was confirmed (as deputy) by the senate in 2017, so there's nothing wrong with him serving as acting SoD for now.

In contrast there is Acting AG Whitaker, who was not confirmed by the Senate and there are questions as to the legality of him taking the office. Trump has nominated a new AG, but hearings have not been scheduled yet.

It's widely known he primarily wanted to run for the presidency, not win it.
Running (and roasting his opponents in debates) was probably the most fun of it all.

That said, I saw the beginning of the "Face the Nation" interview and found his answers to be pretty good - he was actually making a number of good points.

For this reason, I think it will be very difficult to beat him at the ballot.

In the comments of that video, someone pointed me to the prison reform:

Problem is Trump has too many officials serving in acting roles including his chief of staff, attorney general, Defense secretary, Interior secretary and Environmental Protection Agency administrator.
They are there short term keeping the seat warm; sooner or later they will be replaced so it is hard for them to implement long term plans or strategies

No problem. Trump doesn't have any long term plans or strategies.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

I guess the report of Jeff Bezos hitting back at attempted blackmail by the owners of the National Enquirer belongs in this thread.

Good on him. Brave decision, and one which I hope brings Pecker down once and for all.

On a side note, I'm amused to see that Bezos went to the trouble of X-ing out ("917 XXX-XXXX") the cell phone number of the AMI Chief Content officer who emailed the blackmail demand to him... but left the email signature graphic, including the sender's cell phone number, unadulterated... Was that deliberate?

I think the absurdity of the situation is perfectly evidenced by Sander's comment. Even in a moment of near-perfect bipartisanship she can't refrain from playing the blame game.

That's not the way you get agreement.

'Pecker', 'down', snigger

Aye, well done Bezos, Pecker is reportedly 'apoplectic'. I was reading some analysis on this, theres a lot more to it, the non-prosecution deal AMI has with the Feds is contingent on no crimes being commited, if Bezos investigators turn up evidence that AMI obtained his texts and photos illegally then the deal ends, and even better, the Feds then get to use whatever evidence AMI already provided to prosecute them. 3D chess from Bezos, maybe Pecker will be able to reach another deal for providing the Feds inside info on MBS talking about his murder of Khashoggi, now that would be good.
