The suspicions started when police could not find any video footage of the alleged attack. Smollett didn't want to give his phone to authorities. His call records show he spoke to one or both so-called attackers before and after the attack.

I have to agree with you, now it's easy for us all to say it was obvious but the knee-jerk reaction these days is to accept what the "victim" says at face value and then act outraged. The story sounded plausible...until it didn't.
