Good to see Fox maintaining high journalistic standards. As far as we know the U.S. will no longer provide foreign assistance to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras; and these countries do not belong to Mexico!

The Trumpian ages. I've noticed this weekend it has taken hold of EF-ers ..... and now the American news-channels.
Keep it nice, general and simple.

Those amongst us who will insist on differentiating are facing times of being called "Tüpflischiisser" (stickler for detail) until it's overcome. So brace yourselves, we will survive!

She graduated cum laude from Boston University!

So if she is not bright then how do you rate Spanky who never achieved cum laude anywhere
Boston University is a far cry from UPenn. That said, Trump may have gotten in through the "back door"/donations form his father (and I think that may be the case!)

Has anyone taken the time to listen to AOC debate on CSPAN? What an embarrassment on all levels; an intellect she is not nor a public speaker. I think even BU may be embarrassed to have her listed as a graduate. I have read leading Democrats, Pelosi et al. want her gone. And talks are such that they may "redistrict" NYC to make sure she is gone. Time will tell...

Trump quoting "enemy of the people media" again

I have to disagree on both counts. An Ivy graduate is not necessarily smarter or better educated than a BU graduate.

And I have heard her speak. She’s not polished, but I feel she is genuine. And she understands economic concepts, in fact, I think Paul Krugman praised her take on taxation.

I think some Democrats may also be jealous of her social media coverage, her popularity, although others may feel she’s a distraction.

As you say, time will tell.

I completely agree with you that an Ivy league graduate is not necessarily smarter than a State school graduate or someone from BU. The problem in the US (besides the exorbitant tuition fees), is that money buys access to education - and this extends not only to Universities but also, prestigious prep schools and boarding schools. Note the recent, "college admissions scam" scandal in the US. Something has to change!

That said, I am not convinced re AOC but she is new and pardon the pun, "green", so let us see how things develop. Clearly, established Dems are threatened by her (Pelosi et al). We shall see

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

I've noticed that a lot of Americans are complaining that they're receiving much less money back on their tax returns this year due to some new tax laws that Trump had implemented. My only hope is that this will deter some previous Trump-supporters from voting for him again.

The withholding rates changed, so many people paid in less than they otherwise would have. Great, more money on the paycheck now. However, less money in a tax refund. Many, many Americans rely on tax refunds almost as a savings account, to pay for vacations, etc. I never saw the point. I adjusted my withholding such that my refund was tiny, so I had more money throughout the year. Why give the government all that money interest free?

Yeah, I think a lot of Americans find it difficult to save money (for various reasons), so when the big tax refund came in, that was their chance to finally splurge for a nice vacation or a new roof on their house, etc.

Those who live in CA. NY, NJ and CT (incidentally, all "blue" states) are screwed for lack of a better term. All of those states have high state taxes as well as high property taxes, both of which (in aggregate) have been limited to USD 10,000 under the revised tax plan.

We have friends who have a house in NJ and are paying USD 35,000 in property taxes and God knows what they owe in State taxes (which could be up to 8.97% of income!) and now both are "capped" at $10,000 per tax year.

So many homes are up for sale in CT (Fairfield County, namely Greenwich!) and in NJ, and there are few takers. Many predict those living in high tax blue states will relocate to low tax states (hello Florida).

Maybe the increased tax burden will influence the voting in 2020, but there are so many others living in low tax states who stand to benefit from the tax changes. Tough to predict!

Potato, potahto, it's all the same to some journalists. Surely NOT graduates from Ivy League schools?
