On the WTO/Airbus thing, the case has not yet even been determined by the WTO - a decision is due in the summer.

Meanwhile the $11 billion the US is complaining about is dwarfed by the $100 billion subsidies the US have allowed Boeing and which has already been ruled on by the WTO. Talk about double standards.

https://www.dw.com/en/wto-rules-agai...-eu/a-48105904
It is a pity that Boeing didn't use some of those subsidies to design an airworthy replacement for the 737NG.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Seems new Attorney General William Barr supports Trump's goals of political revenge against his own Department!

Trump would be more sensible to let this go instead keeping it alive.

Trump doesn't let things go. He holds grudges and he does his best to get even. You can die and he won't let go. John McCain, anyone?

So you support the FBI and IRS being weaponized during the Obama administration? Should "the Swamp" not be drained? Or maybe you don't believe in "the Swamp..."

Weaponized? Can you provide a bit more context?

In terms of the swamp, I fail to see how Trump is draining it. All he's doing is installing his own buddies and people who are willing to skirt or even break the law for him, including those who think the president is above the law. Still crocs, just eating a different prey.

And besides, the president can't clean house in Congress. The voters have to do that. Time and again voters claim to want change, but time and again they send back the same reps and senators with only a few exceptions.

The FBI and IRS like the rest of the US are composed of roughly equal numbers of GOP, Dems and Independents. It is a fantasy to believe these organisations could be "weaponized" without whistle blowers popping up everywhere.

Of course I believe in the Swamp, just look at the US President who refuses to divest himself from his businesses, promotes his own golf clubs practically every weekend and is becoming the first president in over 40 years to refuse to release his tax returns in office.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Seriously? You can Google Obama and IRS and see the plethora of links that come up. Start with this one, from Judicial Watch.

I voted for Obama twice and was disgusted by this and numerous instances where "his" people conveniently overlooked situations where people should have been indicted or investigated (check into AG Eric Holder or Loretta Lynch). The FBI and DOJ were stacked with "his" people: Comey, McCabe, Yates, Rosenstein, Strzok, Lisa Page. If you don't think they were colluding and obstructing justice, then you are really just ignoring what is in front of your eyes.

And I almost forgot about the ties that are about to be disclosed by the IG, regarding the FBI and DOJ and the FISA warrants. Can't wait for that one!

For Marton, even if there were Republican or independent members, when the TOP is controlled by a tight knit group loyal to Obama, you think people are going to risk their jobs? Doesn't happen very often...

Took your advice to google Obama and IRS and found
Quote:
President Obama released a statement saying, "The IRS must apply the law in a fair and impartial way, and its employees must act with utmost integrity. This report shows that some of its employees failed that test.
I've directed Secretary Lew to hold those responsible for these failures accountable, and to make sure that each of the Inspector General's recommendations are implemented quickly, so that such conduct never happens again.
But regardless of how this conduct was allowed to take place, the bottom line is, it was wrong
Judicial Watch is a conservative activist group well known for making false and unsubstantiated claims and has a long history of failed law suits.

There was already one Inspector general report that stated while there was evidence of political leanings found, the bias did not affect any decision the FBI agents made in their professional capacities relative to the Clinton email investigation.
Since it is mostly the same agents involved I would be surprised if the new report says much different.

Marton, Marton, Marton... Pls continue to cherry pick whichever article(s) that support whichever pro Obama/anti Trump view that you want to support. I know you will find one.
I actually didn't research Judicial Watch, just chose the top of my search results. Lucky for me, I suppose. Care to tell me WHO it is stating that they are
"well known for making false and unsubstantiated claims and has a long history of failed law suits?"
Tell you what, I will accept the IG's findings if you agree to accept Mueller/Barr's results. Deal?
And I am digging around for a chart I saw last week connecting the dots between the string of Obama appointees and the entire collusion/obstruction witch hunt. It was fascinating...

Well
  • ISIS set up in Mexico; 2014 & 2015
  • 11 California counties had more registered voters than citizens eligible to vote
  • Clinton Foundation paid for Chelsea Clinton's wedding

I am interested in seeing Mueller's report if it ever gets published.

Couldn’t find a chart, but found mention of James Clapper’s interview with Anderson Cooper and how many people said that Clapper admitted Obama urged the investigation...but then there’s this....

https://www.politifact.com/punditfac...nd-trump-russ/

But I guess whether you find this reliable depends on your orientation.
I’m loath to call it a witch hunt though.

Anyway, will we ever know if Barr’s interpretation of Mueller’s report is consistent
with the specifics of the report?

And sure, Obama pulled lots of crap during his presidency....but he’s no longer president. What has Trump accomplished? Anything? The swamp is just as full of snakes as before. Maybe we can blame some, or a lot even, on an inert congress.

Agree the major Problem is Congress.

Trump has accomplished a new version of the NAFTA foreign trade deal (not yet approved by Congress) so it is a pity he has started threatening to dump the deal and put tariffs on Mexico.

Today completing almost a clean sweep of all senior Department of Homeland Security (DHS) management, the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Ron Vitiello, has resigned.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Reading a little further into your Wikipedia article, one finds this about the IRS scandal,

"U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said, "We should not only fire the head of the IRS, which has occurred, but we've got to go down the line and find every single person who had anything to do with this and make sure that they are removed from the IRS and the word goes out that this is unacceptable."[103] There were rallies by members of the Tea Party in Cherry Hill, New Jersey,[104] as well as across the country protesting selective targeting by the IRS of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.[105]

Press reaction to the IRS's actions was intense. <Note that ALL of these are liberal Press>

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow said: "There is a reasonable fear by all of us, by any of us, that the kind of power the IRS has could be misused," she further said that this scrutiny of Tea Party groups was "not fair."[90]
Comedy Central's Jon Stewart stated that the controversy had taken "the last arrow in your pro-governance quiver," he further said that this threw doubt on President Obama's "managerial competence" and had proven correct "conspiracy theorists," moving the burden of proof onto federal authorities.[90]
ABC News' Terry Moran wrote that this was: "A truly Nixonian abuse of power by the Obama administration."[90]
NBC's Tom Brokaw stated: "It's time for action."
NBC's White House correspondent Chuck Todd: "It didn’t seem like they had a sense of urgency about it, a real sense of outrage," and further; "This is outrageous no matter what political party you are."[90]
MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said: "This is tyranny," and talked of "unspeakable" abuses by the IRS. "This time it's real."[90]

OK - Maybe you prefer NPR, one of the more liberal news outlets in the USA: https://www.npr.org/2017/10/27/56030...=1554975399461

I don't expect it to change your mind nor that of StirB. As I said, I am a 2x Obama voter and really can't understand your perspective. History will NOT be kind to the Obama legacy and the transgressions will be exposed. Many people are going to feel betrayed and wonder how St. Obama could have done such things... Winter is coming!

Well in these over politicized times, the fact the Trump IRS administration apologised for IRS activities in Obama's time is sadly not definitive.

There is no doubt there was an IRS scandal but you still did not provide even a shred of evidence that Obama weaponized the IRS?

Obama's appointee, John Koskinen, was still in charge of the IRS at this point in time and even served out his full term. But there is no satisfying you. Have you heard about the "missing" Lois Lerner emails or the investigation that led to her invoking her 5th amendment right against self incrimination and her eventual removal? You can read all about it on CNN, here.
I am done with you, Marton... really, you seem to be trolling most of the time.
