And as much as many of you are unimpressed by the „squad“, I would really hate to see someone take a shot at one of them. | | | | | Not sure that "many of you are unimpressed by the „squad“" is correct?
Trump's racist comments about the squad have cost him at least one long term friend, Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera. He said " “as much as I have denied it and averted my eyes from it, this latest incident made it impossible” to defend Trump for accusations of racism." Source

Senator Chuck Schumer has finally gone to the Southern Border with some Democrat Senators. This is a GREAT thing!
Nearby, he missed a large group of Illegal Immigrants trying to enter the USA illegally. They wildly rushed Border Patrol. Some Agents were badly injured....

It would not be the first time he has falsely claimed about "Agents badly injured". From November 2018 "CBP commissioner Kevin McAleenan denied that any border agents were injured "
Trump concentrating on his base without trying to win over people in the middle will not lead to electoral success.

at this point if you are making apologies for a person like this, who can't even relate to a yazidi survivor, you are hopeless.

Trump concentrating on his base without trying to win over people in the middle will not lead to electoral success. | | | | | I was thinking more of EF denizens on this thread.
And yes, I hope your latter statement is true, and I hope Trump’s base shrinks. He is such a master of distraction though....
I just don’t know that enough voters/potential voters see, process and care about things such as his interaction with the yazidi survivor. And with so much nit picking and crap going on with the Dems....they really need cohesion.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | To add to this (because I find history interesting) the other time there was a >1% popular winner / electoral college loser was in 1824 election. In which four candidates received electoral college electorates and a coalition was formed to elect John Quincy Adams in the electoral college contingent election (over the popular vote winner Andrew Jackson).
In short, the only other times in US history there was a larger popular vote /electoral college divergence than in 2016, it was caused by electorates changing their EC votes after the citizen vote (1876 & 1824).
The 2016 result really was historically weird and undemocratic.

That was hard to watch, has he any idea this is real shit, not a frickin reality show?. A litany of horrors that he sums up with 'and you got a Nobel prize?' all that was left unsaid was 'so it wasn't all bad'. Horrible.

| | Re: Will Trump be a Good President? It's pathological. | Quote: | | | | A claim by President Trump has never been so demonstrably false.
Trump started his Monday morning with a stream of tweets, including one in which he attacked a Washington Post article from Sunday that reported "advisers wrote new talking points and handed [Trump] reams of opposition research" on the four Democratic congresswomen he attacked last week. Trump's tweet claimed "there were no talking points, except for those stated by me," and that "'reams of paper' were never given to me."
Yet as the Post's Aaron Blake pointed out in a tweet, Post photographer Jabin Botsford captured several photos of Trump holding what can only be described as talking points during a press conference on July 15.
Those bulleted points are easily readable, and detail the disparaging, often untrue, and occasionally misspelled attacks he made on Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), and Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) during the conference.

The Drudge Report, an influential site run by conservative Matt Drudge, featured The Washington Examiner's report as its main story on Monday afternoon with the banner headline: "NO NEW WALL AT ALL!"
Trump often asserts at his rallies and at media events that his long-promised wall is already being built. | | | | | Source

And here we go again.
"The US government is introducing a new fast-track deportation process that will bypass immigration courts.
Under the new rules, any undocumented migrants who can't prove they have been in the US continuously for more than two years can be immediately deported.
The policy is expected to be published on Tuesday, and then implemented across the country with immediate effect.
However the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) rights group has said it plans to challenge the policy in court." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49079495 | This user would like to thank Medea Fleecestealer for this useful post:

I am pleased to announce that a deal has been struck with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy - on a two-year Budget and Debt Ceiling, with no poison pills....

Meanwhile Special Counsel Mueller testifies to Congress today. He is a reluctant witness so is unlikely to say anything game changing, but hope is the last to die!

Mueller didn't want to testify, and in his one press conference he said the report IS his testimony. It's unlikely he'll deviate from the report, and I seriously doubt he will answer "yes" if asked whether Trump committed high crimes and misdemeanors.
The Rs will use this as an opportunity to again cast Trump as an innocent victim of a witch hut. I wonder if they'll attack Mueller's personal character right away or wait to see what he says.

I doubt he will say "no", most likely will refuse to answer?

Getting Mueller to say it on video and under oath could go a long way to push reluctant Democratic house reps to support impeachment. We'll see. PredictIt's political betting site has a 19% chance Trump is impeached in 2019. IMO, that's too high. But it will be interesting to watch how the market responds after this hearing.
There's even betting on different words Mueller might use. 58% on "Impeach"
85% on "Clinton"
21% on "Deutsche"
