Tax refusal Australia

What would be the implications of refusing to pay tax or a part of the tax in Australia for an an Australian non resident?

How long is a piece of string......................

How much do you owe them, if it's peanuts, (read under $100k) then it is unlikely they will bother with something so insignificant

well its under 7000. But that's the 33.7 % tax rate penalty for non resident. Without the high tax it would be around 2000

If you want to go back, pay it, if you don't, don't pay it, quite simple

Does the OP have any assets that can be seized, that is the main risk as they will add fines plus costs & interest at a very high rate. Could make paying the tax seem like a very good deal.

Or assets in the future such as an inheritance...
