Yep, there were again nearly 1000 violent attacks on refugee shelters in Germany this year, 850 or so of which are clearly connected to right winged extremism.
Attacks on migrant shelters can be viewed as a form of protest against Merkel's open-door policies. People don't like what she's doing, but are powerless to do anything, so they resort to things like that. What if Germany elected a right-wing leader next year, who decided to close the borders and deport all migrants? Can you imagine how many left-wing extremists would be attacking police? Probably more than 850.

But the EU does not have open borders so you must be happy
I happen to think Schengen is about the only thing the EU got right. It's a shame that it's been abused by 1.5 million migrants. With mass immigration and terrorism, Schengen has proven useless.

Guess most of us know this speech.
While principally this is something to be thought about, an American saying about America: <<In a state where every resident is promised a minimum level of income or a minimum level of subsistence regardless of whether he works or not, produces it or not .... >>
makes me laugh
Your cultural condescension is astounding. I guess only Swiss people are allowed to think, write, express ideas without laughter and ridicule because they come from such a perfect utopia of a country

Your post doesn't make sense.
However, you ask all these people in the States or anywhere outside Europe who << are promised a minimum level of income or a minimum level of subsistence regardless of whether they work or not, produce it or not>> they will probably laugh too ..... bitterly, the way I did.

It makes perfect sense. Why does it matter where he is from? And why would it only be people 'in the States or outside Europe' who would probably laugh?

Sorry to stray OT, but your attempt to silence, mock, or invalidate ideas and opinions - based on where the holder of the idea or opinion is from - is frightening.

You continually fail to understand (or do not want to admit) that Schengen is about internal borders; not external borders. The failure was not to sufficiently protect external borders.

Take the USA as a similar example. External US borders are protected but you can move between States as you want to.

Schengen is why this terrorist was able to make his way from Berlin to Milan unimpeded. And why the Charlie Hebdo attackers were able to bring automatic guns from Slovakia to France.

It's also the reason why Germany now has a million and a half migrants and not Greece.

"Merkel's open-door policies" Merkel never had an "open-door policy"! People keep saying that here but she never said that; can you prove otherwise?

She actually said
I think it created a certain amount of confusion when we had an inner debate in Germany where several federal states stated that syrians have to be decided very quickly as pretty much all of them are genine refugees fleeing a war zone.

This has resulted in the creation of the following impression: If a syrian comes to germany and can identify himself as syrian, he is welcome in Germany.
This is in fact the reality, in the same way that someone from Kosovo most likely won't be allowed to stay.
This has created the wrong assumption that all syrians should come to germany.
This however is not the state of the law and we have already told this to the hungarian government which has to deal with the phenomen of syrians inside its borders saying "let us go to Germany".
It is not the case that we could simply diverge from Dublin III, we don't have any other treaty on the issue.

Re: Truck crashes into a Berlin Christmas market

Hopefully the New Year's Eve celebrations will go off a lot more peacefully this year... and I wish you all safe passage into 2017...

just before I hit the sack though I found this from today:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...tre-lives.html

Quote:
When he found out what she was doing, he stormed into the kitchen where the woman was standing and tried to plunge the knife into her upper body.
Luckily her thick winter coat protected her from serious injury, but she did injure her ear when she fell backwards from the force of the man's violent blows.
When questioned by police, the man accepted he had overreacted but claimed he was suffering from 'personal problems'.
He was ordered remanded in custody and taken to Wels Prison in Upper Austria.
It is unclear if he has been charged yet.
Not the best ruetsch but still better than last year (so far).

Well, maybe we have to start looking at this from a completely new angle (well, new to us, not to the majority posting on this thread): If they hadn't let those refugees into Germany, there would be no such shelters, therefore nothing to attack = it is the refugees fault. Or Merkels? Or both?
The 1000 attacks are not evenly spread over the country, but there are certain neo-nazi hotspots like Saxony. Before there were refugees did they attack other immigrants. When no immigrants are around do they attack gays or whoever they consider "left"... that's the problem with right wingers - they need scapegoats. I wonder who Trump will target during his four years....

hm maybe youre right.
lets get the scrubbers and wipe off the graffiti swastikas of the walls in saxony!! alerta alerta antifascista!!

after all, its more likely to get killed by lightning or whatever than by islam worldwide. so no problemo there. never mind the innumerable non lethal attacks day in day out, especially when you start talking about homophobia.

just stop with the gaslighting.

Here's your scapegoats...

The tweet showed a photo of dozens of men penned in behind barriers in front of the station.

Around 300 men of north African appearance were also taken off a train in another central station and had their identity papers checked.

Juergen Mathis, Cologne police chief, rejected accusations that his officers had conducted "racial profiling", arguing that many of the men detained had acted in an "aggressive" manner.

"I reject such criticism," he told a press conference. "The clear aim was to prevent similar events to those of last year."
Now imagine the outcry if such a thing had happened under a "right-wing" government. Police even calling them "Nafris" ....laughable!

No surprise the BBC is completely oblivious.
