Bilateral Trade Agreements and WTO framework

This question is in this forum because it has little to do with CH-EU agreements.

Could someone explain to me how bilateral trade agreements work together with the WTO rules that allow for regional agreements only?

Not to lazy to google, can't find the answer

Thank you in advance!!!
